last night was one of the sloppiest fights I’ve ever seen. Both fighters gassed in the first round. Granted they are big boys, but come on, they are supposed to be fighters. Fighters have stamina. They were on their heels less than 30 seconds into the 1st.

Did anyone else notice Spike was still promoting UFC 106 as Lesnar-Carwin? Had the episode and commercials already been cut, and was too late to change it?[/quote]
Yeah, I noticed it too, I’m not even going to purchase UFC 106 because of that.

I like how Dana White acted like the first round was round of the year or something. These guys, with the exception of a few, will get destroyed if they ever compete against real UFC fighters.

Somebody needs to say to him, “Hey, jackass. This show isn’t all about you. Quit getting butt sore and stomping off like a child every time one of your fighters lose. You have no clue how to build a team environment and get these guys to push each other and rise to the highest denominator. Instead of being a little victim bitch, how about leading by example and pulling together a team.”

I kind of disagree with this. You could say - and I’m not saying that I’m convinced of this, so maybe it’s a little devil’s advocate - that rampage is aware of his limitations as a coach, and so tried to surround himself with the best guys he could and delegate coaching authority to them. Also, the show really is about him and rashad. it’s a glorified ad for the ppv, that’s all.
Just got caught up on the episodes. What a disappointment. They call themselves athletes when over half of them actually have titties. If this is the future of the heavyweight division I won’t be paying my hard earned recession dollars for it.

P.S. Kimbo sucks and those breadstick legs wouldn’t know a squat if it hit em. Why was he ever relevent?

Rampage comes off as extremely self-absorbed.
He truly thinks this is all about him. His comment about not being a coach and that is why he brought his crew is very telling as to his attitude. He thinks it’s the ‘Rampage Show,’ where he gets to prance around like a little princess in front of all his adoring fans.

I thought the whole point was that MMA isn’t a team sport. Its all about you and your opponent. Not sticking up for wittle wampage but his team is a bunch of losers. What can he do about their desire to win. I learned a long time ago that people either want it or they don’t.

Agreed. I was really hoping we might get to see a future HW contender here, but no way. When has Brock ever gassed like that in a fight? Or Randy, or any of the top guys? I’m really hoping Marcus Jones shows something next week, but not holding my breath.
I think its a disgrace that all these guys are gassing just like the rest of you…BUT after some serious thought,I think the fact of having short time to prepare the guys really is a factor in their conditioning.
Granted, the fighters should have came to the show in shape to begin with…but it’s not like they have 6-8 weeks BEFORE their fights on the show. Take into consideration that the entire show is filmed within six weeks. These guys are most likely training hard the same week they are picked to fight. At least that’s how the show perceives it.(could be editing…I don’t know). Definitely not the best scenario to prepare for fights.
But I do believe this adds an element of who wants it more…and to see who has the best potential to succeed. And let’s be honest, how many fights in the history of TUF have been “good” at best?? Not many…even from guys who are current studs in the UFC.
These guys that make it to the finals or that still get picked to fight on the finale in December will be in shape. Hell, just think…these guys are already in training camps for the finale as we watch these episodes.
Anyways, just some stuff to think about with this show.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but the guys that have had the 3,4, or even 5 weeks on the show before their first fight should not be gassing 30 seconds into the first round especially when the fight is mostly stand up. matrone (sp?) and the other guy I forget his name had plenty of time to get in better shape and they didn’t have everyday distractions (kids, wife, work, etc…) like most other fighters.
I’m not a big guy at about 195, but I couldn’t imagine swinging my arms for 30 seconds and being that gassed. That being said I have done some grappling and it is exhausting, but I certainly wasn’t as gassed as these guys and the grappling “rounds” were longer than that.

That could be a factor, also the fact that these guys don’t cut much weight, so probably don’t work conditioning as much as guys in lower weight classes. If they did, there would be no “titties”. I can’t see how you could bust ass all day on conditioning and still be sloppy fat, unless dudes are putting back 10,000+ cals a day. Also, I have noticed that in the follow-up events after the show, the guys from the show look much sharper than they did during the show, so you may be dead-on about the training schedule.
Yall see this case against Zak Jensen in regards to a wrongful death?

I guess he really did finally snap.
I sure hope they never do another all Heavy Weight season again. That last fight was awesome for like 90 seconds.
As far as the reason for these guys gassing it is plain old laziness. Don’t try to disguise it as their high training load because that is complete BULLSHIT!!! In other seasons people have and haven’t gassed while performing as much or more work than these guys…they’ve even had talent too! If these guys don’t recognize their conditioning as a weakness and train to fix it then that is their fault and I don’t feel sorry for them. The way you get better in life is to train the shit out of what you are bad at, re-evaluate your situation, rinse and repeat.
Name me a HW outside the top 10 that doesn’t gas like a fat ass? These dudes are big. Big dudes gas. If they had better cardio they wouldn’t be big dudes…![]()

Then there’s the fact that they get a few months between the call that says “Hey, you’ll be on the show” and the actual show. They should most definitely be ready to go day 1, especially with the recent trend of fighting the first or second day just to stay in the house.
There’s gassing and then there’s just getting smoked…
Both those dudes were completely smoked halfway into the first round and Mr. White almost cheeses his drawers…? Was he watching the same fight?
To win by a decision would have left me in shame.

That right there…is even more pathetic than the fight itself. Any other time Dana shit’s bricks about guy’s gassing and putting on weak performances like that.
