Came across this article about a nun who was excommunicated for giving permission for an abortion to take place in order to save the mother,when the alternative was for both mother and foetus to die.
So someone who saves a life can receive what is considered the harshest punishment the church can give,excommunication,while thousands of paedophiles across the world have been safe in the knowledge over the last century that they will be protected and defended to the hill for the heinous crimes they committed.
