UFC-warning fight spoiler

Just got done watching the latest UFC, i thought it was great.

Cotoure’s peformance against Ortiz was totally awsome. To see a guy of that age dominate someone so much younger and just as strong was a sight. My hat is off to Cotoure, his condition was phenomenal.

One of my favorite matches was one of the undercards before the main fight. It was this young judo based guy who studied with Gene Lebell, among others. I was really impressed how he adapted some judo takedowns to the no gi format of MMA. And the way he pulled off that keylock in the end was cool.

It looks like mixed martial arts is getting more and more mainstream acceptance. Hopefully in not to long MMA will be a regular thing on TV, and jiujitsu will be in the Olympics.

I have a great?article about Couture. I’ll see if the local newspaper that featrues it has a link to the article in their website.

It’s a good interview with Couture, too.

I’m so glad he won! Go Randy!

Hey slightly off subject here. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the full video of the classic fight between Helio Gracie and Masahiko Kimura? I’ve only been able to find two 30second clips.

Craig

tones,

I am with you! I was on my feet applauding when I saw fellow over forty athlete Randy Cotoure destroy a 28 year old big mouth! While I have great respect for Titio’s skill. I never really liked him, maybe its his constant “in your face attitude”. I think there is a bit to much of this today and it is to the detriment of all sports.

“In your face” is fine in small doses. However, when it comes to a steady diet, I’ll take the quiet confidence of forty year old Randy Cotoure!

By the way, I noted that this time around Randy was taking in some “green food”. This is a combination of vegetables, wheat grass Oat grass etc.
I have been drinking this stuff for years.

I always feel a difference in my energy level when I do not drink my favorite green juice. When I drink just one glass per day it seems to kick up my energy level a notch or two.

Those who saw Randy out fight and out last his 28 year old opponent have to know that not only his workout routine is exceptional, but his diet as well.

I watched it last night. The undercards were good, as was the main event. I’m so glad Couture beat the hell and completely dominated Tito. I’ve never like Tito and I thought he was too cocky. Couture was the ultimate professional, and he showed his dominance last night. Tito impressed me after the fight when he put the belt on Randy. That was a class act.

Was it his quiet confidence that was mock-spanking Tito’s ass at the end of the fight? At first I thought he was tapping from that heel-hook…

The sport needs someone like Tito so I don’t dislike him for his attitude. He does what he does to promote fights. He’s been a good sport post-fight lately and thats what matters… putting Couture’s belt on for him was cool. When he was younger some of the shit he did after the fight was disrespectful … The “Gay Mezger is my bitch” shirt and that grave digging thing come to mind. But he has straightened up.

Randy is a bad man though. I wanted him to win…, but my brain was with Tito. I figured he’d dominate. Looks like I was way off.

Both of them looked to be in great shape. I didn’t really see any sign of them gassing too bad. Tito was too frustrated, and just wasn’t in his game. Kickass fight though… both of them are warriors. Even when Couture had Tito mounted, he wasn’t landing too many flush because Tito did a great job blocking. I was hoping they wouldn’t stop the fight then… that shit would have sucked.

ryno,

I’m with you on that! Stopping the fight to soon is something the UFC is famous for. The reason being that they are trying to achieve some sort of main stream acceptance. And it’s working! There is going to be a big special on one of the large networks regarding UFC and its rising popularity.

If someone is hurt, or it looks like it is a “blood sport” then they are afraid they will lose credibility in the eye’s of the cable operators and the politicians. So, who can blame them?

All things considered It’s still the best combat sport in the world. I can’t even watch boxing anymore after becoming a MMA fan.

And yes, I agree, Tito putting Randy’s belt on him was a classy gesture. It had to be a difficult thing to do. In fact, if you look at a tape of the fight you will see Tito fighting back the tears. I never take any joy in seeing a man lose. I wrestled at the High School and College level, and also participated in martial arts, hence I know the feeling of giving it your all and coming up short.

In the end perhaps Tito’s bluster is mostly hyp,(as you stated he has matured a bit in recent years). Personally, I don’t think we need that sort of hype in any sport. Tito has enough skill to carry the gate without the trash talk. If you look at most sports now that is what is in, trash talk! As I stated in my earlier post, a small bit of trash talk goes a very long way.

It’s nice to talk to other fans MMA. This site just gets better and better!

Randy is the guy with the big stach, right? Did he knock Tito out, tap him out or did it go to the cards?

I have heard that Randy is gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that you just don’t think those kinds of guys would be like that. He used to train at a dojo I trained in in LA, and I heard this from several guys.

Tito lost to a homo…hahahaha

It was a good show. I loved seing Tito get rag-dolled. Although to the casual observer I'm sure the Tito vs. Randy fight wasn't that exciting, but to those who dislike Tito and like Randy, it was awesome.

As to the other fights, that judoka, Karo, impressed me with his throws, he made a veteran in Strasser look clueless. And Arlovski thwarting all of Matyushenko's takedowns (formerly a world class wrestler) and finally KOing him with that uppercut was cool. I think Arlovski has a lot of potential.

(To the moderator in charge of the message board. I put in three messages about 60 to 90 min ago and none have been posted. One was on the UFC.

Naw, Jackass… Randy don’t have a stache. He’s married w/ kids as far as I know.

I do think the sport needs that hype. People want to see that kind of stuff before fights… Noone watches the shit now so I think anything that will lure somebody in is a good thing. I know its just now starting to pop up… but it still is going to take some time.

I always thought they should get rid of the cage. I love it, and most MMA fans do… but it just looks brutal to everyone else. Thats one thing I always hear when I show it to someone thats never seen it. I don’t know if this would happen though.

I want to see that Cabbage/Tank fight next time. I love Cabbage… hes a cool dude. They’ll come out banging for sure.

JackAss,

I am sure that Randy’s wife and daughter would get a laugh out of the rumor you are trying to get going. I know I did!

Jackass,

Randy isn't gay you fucktard, he's married and just recently his wife gave birth.

As far as Tito gaining my respect for his post fight behaviour, not a chance. It's easy to be respectful after a loss, I'm waiting for Tito to be respectful after a win.

We were all howling like Wolves when Couture won. I loved it when he gave Tito some of his own medicine by spanding his ass. When Tito fought Shamrock, he was talking about the “old and decrepid fighters” need to give way for the future generations. Randy gave Tito some of daddy’s medicine. You can’t beat “dad” strength.

Go Couture, Captain America!!!

What about after he kicked the shit out of Shamrock? He showed respect.

After Tito beat Ken Shamrock, he was about to put on a "I killed Kenny" t-shirt, but Dana White, the UFC President had to ask him not to, otherwise Tito would have been his regular disrespectful self.

I am a fucktard!!!

Randy is NOT gay. But Don Frye may be another story. He’s the guy with the big stach. I’m not saying I know for a fact, because that is damn near impossible to prove but, As far as I know Frye is gay.

JA

I find it funny that someone involved in prowrestling could call someone else gay.

JackAss,

I think it would be a good idea to spend less time worrying about who is gay, or who is not in the case of Coture and Frye. And spend more time engaging in positve discussion.

Agreed, ZEB. I was glad Randy won. I’m excited for the November fights “the next 10 years” or whatever. I’m pretty pumped.
