Liddell Vs. Sobral
So guys who do you think has this fight won. my money is on liddell because of his great stand up and take down defense. Liddell has been won of my favorite fighters for years now. Sobral is great at submissions but I think Liddell will be able to keep it a stand up fight were he is clearly a great force to be reckoned with. He already beat Sobral once (a nice kick by the way). Chuck beat him so bad he didn’t even know if he wanted to continue in the UFC, not to mention he feels it is against his religion.
My prediction is Liddell by knockout 3rd round 1st minute
Oh and lets not forget the Griffin vs. Bonnar. Really I couldn’t say who will have the upper hand in this fight. The last one was a great fight (most people consider one of the best) and this one will definnitly be no exception
Griffin-Bonnar one of the best? In terms of desire and heart displayed, maybe top 10, in terms of overall(skills, excitement) not even top 25.
What was that crap at the end of your post about Babalu not wanting to continue in the ufc? Stupid. Babalu lost that fight, he dove right into Chuck’s knee…whether or not he can do better this time out remains to be seen…one thing that is for sure is that if it goes to the ground, Liddell is in trouble.
If it goes to the ground Liddell is definitly in trouble, but I don’t see it happening. Oh and about Sobral wanting to quit, you can find a story talking about it on ufc.com. Do You have a prediction my friend.
I looking forward to the Griffin-Bonnar fight. Also, you are right that there isn’t a lot of great skill there but it is fun to watch Griffin go at it.
As for the Liddell fight, I’m not sure about that one. Tough one to call but I’m leaning toward Liddell winning that.
Lidell/Sobral should be a good fight. Sobral is way, way better than he was the last time these two fought. It’s always hard to pick against Lidell but I wouldn’t be surprised if he lost. That said, I am going with Lidell as my prediction.
As for the Griffin/Bonnar fight, I don’t see a repeat of last time. Griffin has grown a lot as a fighter and Bonnar hasn’t. I predict Griffin winning a relatively easy decision.
On a complete side note, this is the first UFC event I have been excited about in a long time.
Did anyone catch the training episode on Sorbal, it was pretty insane (way more than the one on Franklin). I am going out on a limb here and saying Sorbal wins by Sub in the 3rd round. I also think Griffen has progressed much farther than Bonner since there last meeting and he wins by decision.
I’m with SprinterOne, first UFC I’ve been excited for in awhile. Sylvia/Arlovski III was the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever seen, and Tito/Shamrock was as big of a joke as everyone thought it would be.
Anyways, I’ve had a gut feeling that Sorbal is going to win this for sometime. I don’t know why, because I usually favor the better striker, but I think Babalu will pull this out. Submission round 3.
The odds are retarded at Pinnacle Sports, by the way. I believe it was -280 Lidell/+310 Sorbal last time I checked. Chuck is definetely the favorite, but 3-1? No way.
Griffin will wreck Bonnar. Stephen hasn’t done anything to show me he’s better than he was on TUF, and Forrest has really improved.
Prediction? Here is my prediction, if Sobral wants to win he’ll have to be able to stand with Chuck first…he doesn’t necessarily have to win the standup, just not get hurt until he can setup his shot properly rather than diving in and trying takedown after takedown right off the bat.
On another vein, another fight going on this weekend on another card in another country, another Hilo boy and wrestler, Po’ai Suganuma, is fighting for Pancrase’s HW title.
You’ve probably never heard of him, but trust me, one day you will, the dude is an absolutely incredible athlete and with the proper training would be a threat and great addition to either the UFC or Pride’s LHW entourage…mark my words.
Tito and Shamrock III for free!!! That is cool and all but I am still ready to see Tito get back into the title fights. Liddell and Tito would be a great fight. But I would really like to see him fight Babalu. That would be a great match. However I still feel Ortiz has a better chance then Babalu at beating Liddell.
For those of you who didn’t catch the weigh ins Oct. 10, 8PM Spike TV for free
Ortiz vs. Shamrock
Although Ortiz may beat him in the first round again, my prediction is going to be Tito by decision. I don’t expect as much argument from this prediction.

I dont care what happens next UFC as long as Liddel lives to fight Silva. That is going to rock (if it happens)!![/quote]
Although this would be a great fight there is a huge difference between 205 and 240 (or 185 depending on whitch Silva you are talking about).
Has anyone heard if Pride will be ditching the weight classes (if they have them still)
I don’t keep up with pride

Silva, as in Wanderlei Silva, as in the legendary 205 pound fighter. If the only Silva’s you know about are Assuerio and Anderson, you need to broaden your horizons. And man, if your favorite heavyweights are Sylvia and Arlovski you really need to watch some Pride.
Ditch weight classes? Why would they do that? They are having an openweight tournament right now (which has basically become a heavyweight tournament + Silva), but weight classes aren’t going to change. Pride has Heavyweight (over 205), middleweight (205), welterweight (185), and lightweight (160).
I’m rooting for Sobral. It would be silly of me to say Sobral will win for sure against a guy like Chuck (it only takes one punch, right?), but I think Sobral’s chances are great–despite the odds.
He’s decent on his feet and he’s a great wrestler with great sub skills, and he’s improved quite a bit since their last fight. Styles make fights and Chuck is probably the worst style of fighter for Sobral, but he beat Shogun since their last fight, so we know he can survive against tough strikers.
If he can avoid headbutting Chuck in the shin this time around, I think he can pull out a win…
Lidell has clearly exhibited outstanding take down defense recently. When that is combined with his remarkable ability to get back to his feet if he does end up grounded, (and knock people unconcious), the majority of us predict a tough night for submission specialist Sobral. I think most everyone agrees Chuck has the ability to knock out Babalu. Conversely, most would concur that Babalu has the capability to end the fight on the ground via submission. Therefore, the question remaining is; can Sobral take this fight to the ground AND keep it there long enough to work his game? My opinion - not likely.
Disclaimer: Anything can happen on any given day. This, after all, is a fight ladies and gents (See; David and Goliath).

My apologies. How many Silvas can there possibly be in the UFC. Although to my knowledge Wanderlei Silva is a fighter in Pride. But since he use to be in the UFC (UFC 25 losing to Tito) I am an idiot. My bad.
