It’s official. November. Thoughts?
Ohhhh, they are fighting. I thought that Vanderlei said he wanted to Fuck Chuck!
All joking aside, I am excited for this fight. I think that most Pride guys are far superior to UFC, and this should be a great matchup. I think I will have to go with Silva on this one.

didnt tito ortiz beat silva? and didnt liddell beat ortiz?
Ortiz beat Silva in 2000 by unanimous decision.
That is a good point, but that fight was a long time ago. Silva just seems like a better fighter to me, although I haven’t seen a lot of his fights.
I guess that Liddell has to beat Babulu beore fighting Silva. Sounds good.

As great as Chuck is, I am almost completely positive that Wanderlei will crush him. There is no one in Silva’s league at 205. Hell, Silva may win the open weight Grand Prix.

MMA math never works that way.
Silva by complete destruction. Im backing Babalu over Chuck though.

Yes, but Rampage beat Chuck and Wand has beaten Rampage twice. So it’s means fuck all really.
Let me guess, you were introduced to MMA by TUF? lol
And Silva destroyed Rampage twice, and Rampage destroyed Chuck.
The A>B>C theory doesnt work. Never has never will.
BTW: Did you ever watch Tito vs Silva? What a non-event. All Lay’N’Pray with the only exciting bits being when Tito connected Silva on the chin and dropped him, and when Tito literally ran away from Silva. Neither fighter looked impressive in that fight.

Well with that logic, Quinton Jackson beat Liddell and Silva beat Jackson twice, and both of those fights were much more recent, and much more dominant.
LOl this is almost laughable. Chuck Lidell has no chance against silva. Any time a “great” fighter from the UFC goes and fights an average fighter from pride…they get raped. This should be fuckin funny.

Since when is Wanderlei an average fighter from pride? He is the champ and had an 18 fight win streak going before he lost to Arona. He dominated Fujita and could with the OWGP.
Silva will destroy Liddell.
I think he was saying “average” to illustrate a point, not calling Silva average.

Thats what he was saying.
He was just pointing out that when UFC champs, like Bustamante, went over to PRIDE they got dealt.
I’m a big Pride fan, but the UFC does have some very good fighters. GSP, Penn, Hughes, Chuck are all top notch no matter where they fight. Its just that in general the UFC middle and lower caliber guys are lower than those found in Japanese promotions.
I agree with you.
Most UFC guys have turned to MMA only after failing to make it in Football and other sports.
Most Pride guys are martial artists from the beginning.
The real cream of the crop .
I have my doubts that this fight will even happen, especially in November. Wanderlei may have to fight two times in one night just two months prior to to fighting Chuck. I would hate to see injuries push the fight off, but it could very likely happen. I don’t seen Wanderlei winning the OWGP either, by the way, just because I feel that Big Nog and Barnett both could ground and pound Silva to a decision. I hope Silva fights Cro Cop again though.
As far as Silva vs. Liddell, I see Liddell taking it since it will have UFC rules. A big part of Wanderlei’s attacks are four point attacks (i.e. kicks and knees to a downed opponent). In Silva’s incredible knockout of Fujita, man of the final blows were on the ground. I think the UFC rules take Silva out of his element and eliminate a gigantic part of his game. Watch older PRIDE DVDs and see that before they allowed four-point attacks, Wanderlei didn’t knock anyone out. On the first show where they did allow them, Wanderlei knocked the shit out of Sakuraba. It was an amazing change for Wanderlei.
Chuck is a good deal larger than Wanderlei, and without four-points I see Chuck being able to win a decision, possibley a KO. It will be awesome though, as I doubt Chuck will try to take down Wanderlei to expose his weakness on the ground. Good job UFC and PRIDE for making this happen (hopefully)!
Wandy is a machine, but as has been pointed out there will be no knee/foot strikes to the opponents head when he’s on his knees. Wandys kicks at that level are sickening. Wil be interesting as i feel wandy’s clinch is the most devastating in mma. He does mucho damage, so its wandy for me.
