On a personal note i think Alves gonna win but im cheering for Hughes…
Others fights pics;
Bisping,Vera and Davis.
on a another note for UFC FANTASY…
The first 11 guys or girls who post or send a pm to me with email will receive a invitation for a fantasy group on ufc.com!!
I really am not that interested in this card after Shogun and Liddell both had to drop out due to injuries.
That said, there are some good fights on the card.
I think Hughes beats Alves. Thiago is a great striker, but Hughes’s experience should pay off. He should dictate where the action takes place and if he gets back to being really aggressive with his takedown attempts, I can see him either pounding Alves out, or getting a submission.
I see Marcus Davis knocking Mike Swick out, probably in the first round.
Werdum-Vera is really interesting. I like Vera a lot, but Werdum is no slouch. I’ll take Vera by 2nd round submission.
For some reason I’m not too psyched for this card…there are some fairly interesting matchups, but I think the curse on the Liddell-Shogun, Liddell-Evans, Evans-Irvin, Evans-Carneiro fight have lessened my interest.
I think we may get surprised by Alves’ takedown defense…but then I could be wrong and we may watch Hughes reclaim his former glory and gameplan.

With all the changes, I’m interested just to see who actually shows up to fight, they may be using the guy at the ticket counter by the time the fight arrives!
Seriously, I think they put together a really good card and the Hughes/Alves fight is a good headliner given the circumstances. I’d rather it not be so close to the last one though, 2 PPV’s on one bill ‘seems’ a little steep.
I missed the countdown due to falling asleep. Not because I wasn’t interested but because I haven’t been sleeping enough lately. I have it Tivo’d though so hopefully tonight I can keep my eyes open enough to enjoy some tv.
The countdown on spike was good, as usual.
It should have been a free event on spike like they did before. Personnaly i dont look at the internet before sunday and i watch it free the next day…
So what happened with Evans-Irving? I was kind of excited to see Rashad finally getting his ass kicked. That dude just got lucky and docked a few serious bullets on the same card!

Well I found that a local watering hole I go to alot, shows the UFC fights…So I will sit and have a couple of beers and watch for alot less than it costs to pay per view it…
Thiago didn’t make weight. They should have overturned (into a NC) his victory over Desouza last year when he used diuretics to cut weight.
If Diaz can have a victory overturned for smoking reefer, Alves should have had a stiffer punishment for utilizing a banned substance to make weight. Perhaps then he would’ve actually shown up closer to his fight weight. Four pounds over is ridiculous.

No doubt. If he is going to fight in that weight class then he’s got to do the deal like eveyone else.
