UFC 84: BJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk

lol dude just look at bj in the weigh ins. he looks the best he has in years. im posting as i watch but i think the machida fight was a pile of shit. i love how the UFC has announcers who dont know shit from apples. Noone mentioned how Machida tore into Ortiz’s left leg for the whole first round. Ala bonjansky. props to ortiz for trying to make it a good fight to watch.

Silva TKO Jardine 1st round.

it was fucking sweet eh? i love the axe murderer

He was holding on to his neck and pounding on Jardine, after that Jardine could no longer protect himself so Silva had to be pulled off for the TKO…Man it was brutal.

BJ Penn Does it once again.

There was talk about possible rematch between BJ Penn and GSP.

man bj penn sherk was pretty good. i think sherk miscalculated, probably trying to take it later in order to gass bj. but bj penn i think wanted it to go later so he could capitalize on the eventual takedown attempts. i think sherk also hurt or broke his right pinky because he didnt make a fist during the 3rd round.

this was a pretty “feel good” ufc i think. ortiz appologizing for being a douche, silva beating jardines ass then saying how much he loves his fans, and bj saying come train with me to sherk. FEEL GOOD FOR THE WIN!

Do you expect Penn to actually be in shape for once in his life? Is that why you’re saying this? I agree if he can go 5 rounds he has a good chance of winning. But…if he’s in his usual condition Sherk will most likely destroy him. Of course there’s always a chance that Penn will catch him in something. Short of that not going to happen without good conditioning.
Why do you hate BJ?

Top to bottom, this was one of the best cards I have seen in a long time. Tito/Machida was pretty dull, but aside from that, awesome. Wandi damn near killing Jardine was just awesome.

Best knockdown of the night was Yves Lavigne falling on his ass. Please tell me you will post a gif of that Donut!

Great event, I was screaming bloody murder when Wanderlei had keith hurt. That was incredible. Upstairs neighbor came to make sure everything was ok.

Sherk stoppage was a little weak. I think Sherk would’ve been stopped in the next round, but for Yamasaki to stop it between like that… Not that I think he would’ve won, but unless he through in the towel they should have let him continue.

I would agree except that Mario threw the fakie stop in there right before he stepped in which was prior to the bell (when Mario started to intervene) It is fairly disappointing when there is some controversy surrounding a stoppage, but in this case I’ve seen way worse.

Brilliant night of fights. I made some solid bank on Goran Reljic, he’s got some mean kicks. Lyoto did what I thought he would do, save for the triangle arm bar that he rolled out of well. Seeing Wandy win was AWESOME! I’m so happy to see him come out victorious. BJ looked great, his jab was tight and quick, and Sherk had a fucking brilliant gameplan to lose so it was easy money.

Hughes stand up is horrible, agreed? How come Penn didn’t take him apart on the feet if his stand up is “excellent”?
You do a better job at pwning yourself with your picks than anyone else on here, for that I give you props. Someone has to be wrong for all us geniuses.

Penn did slap Hughes around in the stand up part of their fights. hughes is much stronger and better than sherk and eventaully got a takedown in the 2nd fight (then he got his back taken, then rd 2 ended). bj (who claims he injured his rib) had nothing for the 3rd rd of that fight.

If BJ comes in shape, I think he will kill Sherk. But that’s always the question with BJ.

BJ by second round TKO.

I really hope Wandy gets his shit together and beats the ugly off Jardine like I know he can. Keith’s style just begs for Wandy murder.

Axe Murderer by round one KO.

Tito and Machida I kind of expect to be a snore fest, just a gut feeling.

Machida by UD?
Wow! Good calls.

This was the first UFC PPV I’ve watched in a while (the last was Liddell-Jardine), and it was very exciting.

Machida-Ortiz was not one of the more exciting fights, but I had underestimated Machida’s speed. Ortiz is bigger, and I thought he would have taken down Machida, but it was a good fight.

I was stoked when Silva dropped Jardine, then beat his face in for a first round KO. That was sweet!!! It was a good victory for Wanderlei after losing three straight fights.

Penn-Sherk was a good fight also. Penn took care of business when he needed to at the end of the third round. If the fight would have went to 4 or 5 rounds, I think Sherk might have won, due to his ridick conditioning, and he would have worn down BJ.

Very exciting night, need to watch UFC more often.

Good overall card:
Hard ass kicks from Goran Reljic(I think he hurt Gouveia’s right hand)…keep an eye on him.

Tito was understandably frustrated like a m’fucka. He could get a hold of Machida,he couldn’t take him down for shit…and got taken down himself. But that knee from Machida was brutal. I’ve never seen Tito fold over like that…but he’s a soldier. He couldn’t take down Machida for shit…and got taken down himself.

Keith Jardine’s sloppy leg kicking finally cost him…Wandy looked like the explosive Wandy.

BJ Penn…and Sherk…it was like watching a technical boxing match…then it was over with a knee…lol. Too bad Sherk has T-Rex arms…he has good hands and head movement.

Shane Carwin looked good with the hands for a HW…that button shot KO was crazy…look out for him, too.

BJ wants GSP again(crazy)…but GSP has Fitch in August to “prove who’s the better wrestler”…Fitch is in for rude awakening.

So Sherks gameplan was to use his reach disadvantage and out-jab Penn? Brilliant!

Glad I didnt pay for this fight and got it for free, cuz gas is expensive.

Loved seeing BJ pick apart Sherk…

Did anyone notice that in addition to licking the blood off his gloves again, BJ actually went over to the downed Sherk and took blood off his face to lick?

Niiice.

wand by rape choke is the most awesome thing ever.

The show last night was really well done. The Ortiz Dana White thing is being blown up for ratings. White is no idiot and continually finds ways to make himself part of the big picture. Watching the show last night, I have a new found respect for Jardine as a man. He comes off as very respectful and humble. He also used the word “scary” or some variation thereof a few times in describing Silva. Silva is gonna decapitate Jardine, and I’d be surprised if it goes past the first few minutes of round one.
Not to toot my own horn, but…
