I seriously have no idea how the fuck Nog keeps pulling this stuff off. The man is literally one step away from being dead, and he still makes BJJ magic.
Well, my picks for the main event were dead wrong, and I couldn’t be happier.
Big Nog gets himself another belt and will forever be known as the man who saved us from another coma-inducing Sylvia title reign.
Lesnar gets a humbling jiu jitsu lesson that hopefully will steel his resolve to become a world class mixed martial artist.

No shit. Timmah knocks the shit out him for 2 rounds and then Nog just smokes his ass out of nowhere. Maybe his strategy is to lure his opponent into a false sense of security.
WTF was the deal with Mir/Lesnar? I have never seen a no warning stop for hitting the back of the head. Mir definitely took a few shots to the back of the head, but fuck, that was a little out of line. The rest of the fight was pretty crazy. Lesnar looked a little excited, but was jumping all over Mir’s ass like a monkey on crack, he was getting his sprawl on. Frank is still Frank and I think he is back. He looked calm and cool as shit and grabbed that leg the nanosecond Brock gave it to him.
I have no idea who that Boetsch dude is, but he gets pimp of the year award from me. Throws a dude on his fucking head and then just starts pummeling that ass. Herb was standing over him like a shit-talking street fight cheerleader. “Fuck his shit up! Yeah!”

Yes and no.
We rewound it to see the hits to the back of the head and there were four. He should have stepped in after the first two and gave a warning. I don’t see why he took a point immediately without any warning.
Why did Lesnar receive so much hate from everyone?
Regardless, nice kneebar by Mir and a great night of fights all around.

Nice. ![]()
Hilarious how Bradly pulled guard on the ref after the stoppage.
This card was really entertaining IMO.
Mir did exactly what I was hoping for.
Nog is the man, I mean… wtf… I for once liked something Timmah had to say in the post fight.
Ok, for the uminformed can someone tell me why this was a title bout? I thought Couture was the HW champ. Did he beat Sylvia and retire again?
I’m also disapointed Brock lost so quickly, mostly cause I’m a homer. And although Brock is a native farm boy of South Dakota, he made his name here in MN at the UofM wrestling which despite the best efforts of university leadership continues to excell.
Really great, two submissions. Especially the knee bar. Knee bar. Really great action, knee bar. It’s great when guys wrestle so one of them can put a joint lock on the other. There’s only one word for a submission, excitement. If they aren’t hitting or kicking each other to oblivion it’s lame.
What’s your problem? This is MMA, not Boxing. Go watch K1 for KOs.
Anyway, nice fights. Especially Nog-Sylvia.
I agree with Steve’s statement, that in the long run this will make Brock Lesnar a better fighter.
I’m extremely happy for Nog. I’ve met him on a seminar he did, and he was amazingly friendly, helpful and down-to-earth.
Also, the prospect of another boring championship reign of “I wear the belt during sex” Sylvia was frightening.
Glad to see Mir kneebaring Lesnar. Hopefully this will delay the WWEization of UFC at least for a while.
I hope to see Lesnar vs. Sylvia next.
Good card.
Tim Boetsch looks legit and I’m glad to see Almeida back in the UFC.
Brock made a mistake many rookie amateur wrestlers make. A crafty submission machine like Mir wasn’t a good first fight for him in the UFC. Does anybody know if Marty Morgan (assistant UofM coach) walked out with Brock? We were arguing about that at the bar, but I didn’t get a good enough look. I still see Brock ocassionally at Gopher wrestling matches, but I wasn’t aware Morgan was working with him.
Big Nog is my all-time favorite fighter and Timmay is my least favorite – the night couldn’t have ended better.

Honestly, I don’t hope Nog fights more than one more time. He has literally destroyed himself.

Edit: Can;t get the gif to load

It was bullshit because there was no warning.
I’ve been waiting for the gifs. Donut, you never disappoint. ![]()
Who knows what would have happened had he backed off and allowed Mir to stand up again…
Or if he had been allowed to stomp him like under Pride rules (I’d personally rather disallow elbows like in Pride considering the mess it can cause - e.g. Sobral vs. Heath… whatever).

I also have to give Brock props for walking to ‘Shout at the Devil’
Had to watch the fight Sylvia-Nog a third time. Great bout!
I think it’s only a matter of time before ellbows on the ground will be banned. Just too much needless blood. Harms the spreading of the sport.
P.S. great gifs!
You know what I wanna see? Brock vs. Tim. They’re styles of fighting are almost complete polar opposites, and I’d like to see who would land on top. Brock will be a force to reckon with in UFCs to come.

After watching that gif a few times I see things I didn’t last night(I’m not drunk now). That was sexy as hell. The way Mir spins himself around to trap Brock’s leg and then gets dragged half-way across the ring clinging to the leg. Nice.
Maybe we will see Mir/Nog? Guaranteed some sweet ground work in that fight.
Watching the last few Nog fights is like watching Sakuraba fights, I hope he doesn’t get killed in the ring. Nog’s striking defence is block punches(and kicks)with his face.
