The BS is leaning in the other direction,my friend. You ever been kneed in the sternum/solar plexus?? Ever had wind knocked out of you??? Did it give you instant energy to fight it off…or were you wishing to die instantly rather than be tortured by the pain and not being able to breath??
I’ve gotten hit in the solar plexus. Sonnen got up after that. Seemed in worse shape but was up. Didn’t go for a takedown or anything and falls from a non-hit, then tko’d by a lot of other non-hits.
on another site they showed the off angle view, it was a right hand behind the ear that dropped Sonnen. look, i like the guy, a beast of a wrestler, but all the fanboy crying is fucking sad. Anderson is a fucking 184lb BEAST. the knee to the solar plexus and then the right behind the ear did it.

not just here but in other places the crying ad complaining is fucking pathetic. sonnen said it was a good knee, the re-play showed it was a good knee. people should get hit int eh face or head by anderson and then make judgement about what hurts/damages and what does not.

fucking pathetic.

That was lame…Totally anti-climatic ending that leaves an unsatisified feeling. Silva won again but it wasn’t in any dominant fashion, more like capitalising on a mistake. Chael slipped.

Twice…

He slipped twice.

With guys like Silva, you only need one mistake to get finished.

Here is my Rose Colored Glasses report:

We are still on track for Silva vs. Lombard.

Humble, if you still have contact with Lombard tell him not to get hurt. No motorcycles, hang gliding, etc.

Fuck it. Ask him to put non skid tape on his floors and install hand rails on everything.

I REALLY like the thought of Silva vs. Lombard.

Robert A

Thigh hits head it seems. I don’t consider it illegal.

Full impact knee on the sternum.

There won’t be a Silva vs Sonnen III and Silva will probably never fight GSP or Bones Jones before he retires. Seems like the only worthy PPV for the UFC with Silva is a fight with Rashard and I’m not sure how exciting that would be considering the odds.

LOL…anti-climatic my ass…this isn’t action movies. You guys are trying way too hard to discredit Silva being the better(and SMARTER) fighter.

Chael slipped because Silva SLIPPED his punches and sent him off-balance. And the strikes that landed beforehand were accurately timed.

So we go from giving Silva a hard time for his hurt rib “excuse” to making the excuse for Sonnen that he simply “slipped” the fight away. Fun times.

Well, in fairness, many folks may not be as used to seeing precision shots drop someone as opposed to sledge hammers.

Silva hits hard enough, but at the right spots, at the right times. This can make someone who sees it for the first time go “What the hell! I KNOW that fighter has taken bigger shots than that.” Following that line of thought can lead to questions about heart, or even if it was a real competition.

Think of how Anderson Silva puts guys on queer steet or starches them, vs. how Shane Carwin or Chuck Lidell do/have done it. Silva hits guys “just so”, while Lidell or Carwin club them into the ground.

I am not saying that is/was what happened in qsar’s case, but I can understand and appreciate the line of thought. It just so happens that my experiences and training usually have me seeing it a different way.

Dude he slipped on that spinning backfist… That’s not discrediting Silva but Sonnen slipped by himself. Maybe I wouldn’t be as disappointed if Sonnen hadn’t won Round 1.

Even Silva was surprised when Sonnen was on his ass. Silva spend like 2 seconds looking down at Sonnen and thinking “I have you now motherfucker” before that knee.

And what are the odds?

I was JUST telling my brother this. Contrast how Silva drops Griffin and Okami to how, say, Lombard or Liddell do it. Silva has dangerous accuracy.

I think Shad presents problems. Times his shot-attempts well. He’s not a southpaw though, and Silva handles the single leg and single leg attempts well. Plus, Rashad’s chin has gotten shaken up multiple times, so I’m guessing Silva can crack that.

If he fights Silva like he did Jones, he’s fucked.

Well…trying to simplify what all happened in that exchange as a “slip” is reaching…and telling.

I watched the end again and I just don’t see it. ZERO punches from Silva hit flush - not even close. Middle of the forearm would hit - ridiculous. Even the knee went through both arms and the leg of Sonnen and he gets up and keeps fighting after that. I still say money changed hands under the table tonight.

Stop…really.

Why not Jones? If Jones wins against Henderson, that is (which is very likely IMO). He went up to light heavyweight to embarrass Griffin, why not try Jones?

Why? Sonnen would make a fuckload more money as champion, the UFC could promote him way easier, and Silva is a few fights away from retiring.

That was a loaded question for Gettnitdone…but I do agree. But I think it would be an intriguing match-up…regardless if it actually happens or not. Still want to see Bisping get his “shot”…lol.

If he gets past Stann (probably) or Belcher (not happening) or Lombard (maybe), it could happen, and the gifs of the fight will make history.
