About Silva's Leg

Silva vs Weidman:

Going to be a long time before he’s back, assuming he does return.

Is he more than likely done? I mean, yeah, he fucked up badly in the first place by losing to Weidman by jerking around but then he gets knocked down in the first round, partially recovers, and breaks his own leg, and ultimately loses the fight again? This was his time to shine but not only lose, but lose in the worst possible way.

He lost in the first place by being dominated, then desperately resorting mindgames, then getting knocked out. He was dominated again in the first round of the second fight, then Weidman broke his leg with a technique he had been practicing.

If he’s smart, he’s done. He’s not getting another title shot without some wins in between now, and it’s going to be a long layoff before he can start working his way back up. That leg is one ofnhis primary weapons, and I don’t think you ever fully recover from a break like that. Plus, if he does come back that injury is getting targeted, just like Brock Lesnar’s diverticulitis.

Time to pack it in, make some workout videos, and hope you’re well invested.

I’m confused. How did they attack diverticulitis? I missed this story line in Lesnar’s career.

Overrem threw a crapload of body kicks in their fight… and pretty much nothing else.

yeah, i agree… Silva’s 38 yo right now, and i would assume this kind of injury is gonna take several months of absolutely total rest, at a minimum… not to mention the time for him to get back in shape. Weidman won convincingly both times, too…

the only fight i see him doing, is a superfight is with GSP (who’s also planning on nit fighting for a year?!? hmmmm!?!)…

I actually thought Silva looked noticably slower in this fight too, cant tell if it was just lack of confidence caused by ktfo or if he got old just like that. The shot that floored him didnt really look that hard either, and he has definitely taken much heavier shots and barely flinched in the past. Most bizzare ending of such a dominant career though, first getting upset ktfoed by clowning around and then getting your chin snapped in half, hope that stuff wont haunt him forever. Weidman vs. Belfort should be a good scrap though, rooting for Vitor to pull off yet another headkick KO.

it’ll be interesting if the fight’s in Brazil or the US…

At least none of the whacko conspiracy theorists can claim this one was fixed.

That’s normal for him.

Say what you want. It doesn’t change the fact that it does make for a much more even match up against GSP now that both of them are gimps…

i guess… he clearly targeted Lesnar’s midsection, and he just had 2 surgeries. 'Reem did what he needed to win, but i don’t recall him exclusively focusing on body kicks before, or since.

It seemed fairly obvious he was working the surgery site to see if it was soft, then he kept working it when he got a reaction. Nothing wrong with that, any more than swinging for the fences on a guy with a glass jaw. It’s a fight, not a picnic, and hr swore to the relevant sanctioning body that he was healthy enough for it. I’d have done exactly the same, just like I’d attack Silva’s weak leg if he came back to see if he flinched away.

Damn, that was nasty

Poor fucker. TBH i think he wanted to retire anyway, Chris apprently trained alot for checking his kicks.

There is a video from Bas Rutten floating around that he tells that AS should’ved kicked straight through on a side line and not sort of angled on the low kick.

Man I love Bas. He has a way of explaining things. That definitely makes since logically.
