Two Plates

Look, I know this isn’t exactly breaking any records but I’m pretty jazzed about it and I just have to share. I finally worked up to 2 plates on deadlifts (trap bar) for reps! 4x8x225lbs and I nailed it. Seven months ago I was at 85lbs so this has been a huge increase. Current thick bar bench 5x5x150lbs, and Full ATG squats 5x5x190lbs. Ok, you can proceed to flame and call me a weak little girl now.

congrats man, you’ll be at 3 plates in no time.

Progress is progress no matter the numbers. Keep it up and you’ll get 315 easy. Good work.

And jazzed you should be! Seriously, good for you. The nice thing about training is that it is an individual effort and the only person you need to compare yourself to is yourself.
And hey, you weak little girl, don’t stop here. (meant as a friendly ribbing, don’t take offense). You are building a solid base, stay hungry and don’t get complacent.

Great work bro!! It’s not long since I was there myself. Keep working hard and you’ll double the weight for a single soon!!

Good work!

You might want to check the weight of the Trap Bar.

Most olympic Trap Bars weigh more than a 7’ olympic straight bar…there is a pretty good chance you lifted MORE than 225.

The % gain in weigh from 2 to 3 plates is a lot less than the % gain from 1 to 2 plates.

You’ll be there in no time.

Good job!

Remember this: you only really have to compare yourself to yourself. When you get better you have much to be proud of.

Exactly!
Just like everyone else has been saying, a new PR is a new PR.

Great work, keep the PRs coming.

What does “for reps” mean?

“For reps” used to appear in the Wierder Publications all the time but without rep numbers to clarify. I just don’t get it if the sets and rep numbers are listed.

(BTW: blue9steel, this isn’t a criticism of your post, I am genuinely confused about this. And well done on the advance. It’s remarkably satisfying to move from a 10, 5, 2.5 and 1.25 kg combination to a 20 kg plate. More strength to you!)

I’m guessing he meant for reps as in (4 sets of 8 reps at 225lbs.)

Good job man, like someone said above… progress is progress.

Awesome job man. A PR is the best reason to keep lifting. 3 plates will be here in no time.

It gets even more fun with more weight. Keeping plugging away. It’s well worth it.
(F.Y.I. listening to insanely intense Slayer tunes will increase your strength and endurance by at least 85% when deadlifting)

Nice work. Now keep on going to even greater things and hell keep us informed.

Great job,
Phill

Congratulations…keep up the hard work

Stay focused and you’ll be pulling 3+ plates in no time… It’s a mental thing

Great job…this is my favorite thing about weight lifting. I get excited about posts like this one. New PRs are always motivating. It means your dedicated and training hard. The guy next to me can run circles around my squat…but when I break my own PR, I feel proud because it is a personal victory…so get excited about your new PR and stay motivated. Now to the ass worship thread!

you got it bro, fuck three plates you got that shit. worry about four now, it’s all you.

Most trap bars are 55 lbs …

Good job bro !

we ALL had to go through 2 plates at some point. get excited. progress is definitely motivating.

congrats.
