TUF Talk

I seriously doubt Dana will ever have him back. I honestly only think he told him to call him in a few months is so that Jesse doesn’t sue him. There is no way that contract he currently has can allow him to release a fighter for any reason he wants even after the show was over.

If the contract did state that there would be no way it would be upheld in court. I forget the legal term but when two parties enter into contract and the contract is written by one partyA to totally favor that partyA and the other partyB has to take it or leave it.

Are you out of your mind? THis gets stupider every time I read it. What do you think the NFL does every time they cut a player? I’d be shocked if their “contracts,” if they can even be called that, dont say somehting to the effect that a fighter can be sent home for any reason or for no reason at all.

Amir vs CB was awesome. I let out a yell, “YES!,” when Amir knocked down CB at one point and when Amir caught the armbar i instant replayed it about a dozen times. I dont HATE cb, but i sure as heck wanted amir to win.

I actually thought Tim vs CB was a good fight. Certainly compared to a lot of the fights on TUF it was. It was definitely a close call, i didnt even agree with dana that the second round was CBs for certain, I didnt know who I woulda given it too. One thing that was interesting, I thought both CB and TIm looked like completely different fighters. CB tentative for the first time, Tim actually pressing the action (although still not listening to a lot of what his coaches were yelling.) What’s interesting is that before teh semis I would’ve said that Tim was the best fighter in the house, but losing his last two fights in a row … hmmmm

One other thing that’s struck me - at the beginning of the season Amir was held up as an example of what’s gone wrong with TUF, a fighter who hasnt even had a fight being brought into the house. Even now that “0-0” beside his name still looks out of place. And yet, win lose or draw on Saturday night, I’d argue that Amir is as desirable a fighter to have in the UFC, or MORE so, as anyone in that house. The kid has personality, he’s got heart, he’s got a chin and I think he has TREMENDOUS upside. I dont know how long he’s been training, but if this is the level he’s at before he’s even had a fight, I have to believe he’s going to get better. Understand, I’m not saying that the UFC had all this in mind, or that they picked him for the right reasons - I think they lucked into it, picking a kid who’s a little out there and makes for good tv and just happened to have provided the most compelling storyline, and some of the most compelling fights of the season. I could be wrong, maybe Amir just had the 4 win fight-streak of his life and he’ll never be as good as he is right now, but even if that’s so … oh man, what a ride.

I’m going out on a limb and taking Amir to win it all. I’ve picked Amir each fight so far, and because I so badly want to see DB get offed, I’m actually believing at this point that he actually will beat DB in the semi’s and Creduer in the finals (as opposed to Creduer winning it all as I had initially insinuated). Reason being - he has fought some really tough opponents and refuses to lose…DB will another victim of his versatility.
You may have called the the JT drama - but I got the winner here and I’m sticking with it. Btw, I like to refer to CB as DB (for douche bag) as it’s rather fitting, don’t ya think?

Woot Amir Wins again via armbar again!!!

I thought it was really classy of CB to complain after he tapped out.

Amir is good for the sport.

I was impressed with Sanchez.

I was impressed with Sanchez.
Me too. Sanchez vs. Fioravanti - that’s what I call a good fight. And hooray for Amir!

It looked to me that CB had decided to tap but then changed his mind, but changed it too late. Maybe the act of moving his arm out to tap gave him just an eighth of an inch & relieved a bit of pressure on the joint, or maybe his mind was racing too much to think clearly - he certainly looked like a bundle of nerves coming out. And who can blame him? Whatever the reason, he certainly did tap. I’m so happy for Amir & can’t wait to see Forrest & Rampage go at it.

At the end he seemed to admit that he did it, probably after seeing a replay, but at the time his hissy fit looked pretty lame. Very happy to see Amir win.

Before the replays I wasn’t sure if he tapped or if he was going to push Amirs hands off. With the instant replay their is no doubt that he tapped. The ref is 2 feet away and you are looking at him. If you use a light open handed slap to an unimportant area (Amir’s leg) wtf do you think the ref is gonna do?

Too me it looked like Amir may have been making an adjustment to move his hips higher so he could get more leverage under the elbow. That moment of relief made CB change his mind. Least thats what I’m hoping for so CB isn’t as much of a Tool as I think he is.

Figure after the first fight that he would of learned not to stand up in Amir’s guard.

Diego did look very good and Luigi sure can take a fucking beating. He ate 3 head kicks in that fight. Granted the 2nd one wasn’t very hard/clean but still. For such a chubo he sure was slick on the ground in the scrammbles. Way to roll out away from Diego.

The Tanner/Groves fight was decent. Those one legged jumping knees were pretty cool. I was hoping Groves would finish but Tanner just too damn tough. Too bad Tanner didn’t use that mental toughness to not do drugs/alcohol for all those years. The guy is 37 and I just don’t see him pulling a Randy Couture comeback.

I’m glad Chipper beat Dante. On the plus side for Dante he fought 10 times harder in that fight than any fight on the show. Still I think Dante should retire.

What do you guys think about Anderson Silva fighting at 205? I’m looking forward to what he can do in the LHW division.

Personally, I think he could dominate the LHW division…maybe not as easily as the MW division. I’m struggling to think of opponents that would be very challenging for da Spider. Only person that I think could give possibly him trouble on the feat would be Chuck because of his power and unorthodox style. Even then I don’t think it’d be much trouble. Rampage, Forrest, Wanderlei & Shogun (doubt they would fight), Tito, and Randy I think would be defeated soundly by the Spider.

Glad to see Amir win. CB didn’t learn much from their first fight, getting caught in the armbar again, much the same way he did in the first fight; standing up in Amir’s guard.

Diego Sanchez’s striking has come a long way. He was very crisp and those high kicks looked good. Luigi can take a punch/kick, that’s for sure and he landed some good shots. I think he’ll be a factor in the WW division, while Diego takes a step closer to a title shot.

Grove looked good and Tanner is tough as hell. He might be out of the UFC, but Elite, Affliction or another promotion should sign him up, he’s got a couple of good fights left in him.

No real outstanding fights, but a lot of good fights and that works for me.

Yes they are trying to build drama and that, and you can say whatever you want about the alcohol being a test, and how they do all this to build drama and ratings, but the bottom line is it still does not make or show to average fans a good image for the sport. Comparing it to hockey, their used to be a Reality show on called making the cut. In the first season, there were 64 guys pretty much left loose in a resort, with a ton of booze. And two weeks later, at the end of the show no damage had been done to anything. I still think they can think of other ways to build up drama than this.

I was pleased to see Amir win. How can you not love this kid?

Tanner’s beard was awesome, but it was only enough to sway one judge in his favor. I wish him luck in his future.

Yeah, WTF was with a judge scoring the fight 29-28 Tanner? How fucking incompetent can you be? The scores were 30-26 Grove, 30-27 Grove, and 29-28 Tanner? How in the hell can you see a fight so differently and so far from any strain of logic?

Forgot to mention how friggin’ awesome Dustin Hazelett’s armbar on Josh Burkman was. One of the best armbars I’ve seen.

You can see it over on the UFC site, I believe.

Once again I have to ask, what the hell are you talking about? Randy hasnt been a lhw in YEARS. If it’s not 2 years since his last lhw fight, it’s OVER a year and a half.

That’s ignoring the fact that he isnt in the ufc right now and has no plans to come back, but that’s fine because you also ignored that with Tito. As far as your logic for Rampage, Wandy or Shogun being beaten “soundly,” I dont even want to hear it.

He was mesmerized by the power of Beard.

Holy Shit…

Yeah dude, Hazlette’s BJJ is sick, truly made for MMA competition. He has a very dangerous guard and makes the most of those long limbs.

That is crazy.

Donut, thanks for posting that GIF of Hazelett’s armbar. Thing looks better every time I see it.

Ho-lee shiat. Why wasn’t that on TV? That was better than every thing I saw(with the exception of Evan’s beard, that thing is just badass).

Did anyone catch the look on Faber’s face in Afghanistan? He looked stoned.

Also, I saw BJ on camera there too, but I think I saw and heard him in Kendal’s corner too. WTF?

I believe BJ’s brother was helping corner Kendall. Not to embrace a stereotype, but a lot of the Hawaiin’s sound the same if you aren’t used to the accent.
