It’s just something about chris leben… He just doesnt look like he can fight, his punches look weak and slow but he keeps knocking people out.

I loved the hamill vs jardine though. It’s been awhile since i’ve seen a real bloody brawl where the guy who’s cut didnt puss out or get stopped by the doctor. Did anyone else notice the camera man in the background in that fight had to get a towel to get jardine’s blood of his lense (lence? idk how its spelled)

Though I was happy McGee won, I was rather disappointed with the fight overall as I thought most of the matches up until then was pretty good.

One thing that annoys me is how out of shape a lot of the UFC fighters are, Yager being a good example. I know it’s intense, but 15 min isn’t really that much.

Well, this was Yager’s debut fight for the UFC. I wouldnt say he’s a UFC fighter, doubt he’ll get a contract after his last performances. 15 min is pretty long if you got an intense fight. Try a 6 min wrestling match, you’ll feel like choking yourself out afterwards just to get away from the pain of bein so freakin tired. And do that 3 more times.

I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure 24 min is quite a bit more than 15 min.

I was just making a point. A fight with normal technical fighting and no ground game vs a full 15min og brawling, clinch work and ground game. The ladder will make most men gas. I’m not defendig yager, i dont like the dude. He should have better conditioning, but there is a lot of factors why people gas, its not as simple as “they’re out of shape”.

well, first off, he really only went 5 min in one fight, and 10 in in another…

and secondly, it’s his fault for nto being prepared for that kind of fight…it’s not a half-ass kickboxing match that he thinks it is-it’s MMA.

he appears talented, but he really needs to step up the training… i have no sympathy for a pro MMA fighter that physcially can’t go 3 rounds.

I agree with you that they should be able to go 3 rounds, but im not defending yager, im simply using him as an example when the other dude above us said that he dont understand how ufc fighters are so out of shape. All i tried to say is that its a big difference between a 15 min kickboxing match and a 15min wrestling match. And sometime you get a sick brawl\clinch\wrestling match with a non stop pace that very few people in the world could hang with.

I understand what you’re saying, but if it had been a 15 min all-out brawl I wouldn’t have made that comment. It wasn’t, so I find it weird how he can enter into a UFC match so unprepared. It’s like the guys not making weight in my opinion, it just doesn’t make sense in my head.

Getting KTFO, submitted, lose a decision, being slower or weaker or less talented technically or be less experienced or just being plain unlucky - okay. But running out of gas after two 5 minute rounds at a (relatively) slow pace? What?

Then i can agree with you. Especially about the cutting weight part. I’ve cut weight for competition for my whole life, i honestly dont understand what they’re bitching about. So your not mentally tough enough to dehydrate yourself, and if you know that you should tell your teammates to lock you in the steamroom or sauna untill you’r on weight. It’s not like you’re gonna die…

Or they could always fight their actual weight, like Fedor, instead of trying to cut down two weight divisions to fight smaller, (perceived) easier opponents.

EDIT: Where you live btw? I take it that’s you in your avatar? I’ve been looking for wrestling club for a while now, even sent a mail to NBF, but no response. :S

For people who cant make weight i agree, but for wrestlers who are used to it and can perform at a top level even when cutting 40lb they’re at a big advantage muscle and streght wise. It’s not for everyone, atleast not for the generation of Vag that hits mma from time to time.
