Trump: 2020 and Beyond

I get that. Im not trying to attack you, and i realize that because im fired up about this that my aggression towards the situation and its main actors as i see them can easily be misconstrued as aggression towards the person im speaking to. Especially throught text. But fuckit. Ive been calm and pretty collected trying to be the voice of reason in my household for a long fucking time. POTUS and leading members of the GOP tried to outright steal the damn election through a false fact campaign, and then when that looked like it wouldnt succeed POTUS encouraged his sychophants to violently storm congress to stop the peaceful transfer of power. Yeah, its good graham finally chose the right path, but a single speech only when his ass was put to the fire does not absolve him of all the absolute bullshit he spewed and actions his words caused. Fuck that.

I deleted a comment, because it’s not my country and it’s not my fight. In all sincerity, God bless America.

the reason its coming out is the very large difference in the planned response (mostly manpower and show of force) to the organized BLM protest in DC over the summer vs the response to yesterdays planned protest. Police have shown great restraint this year overall IMO.

Also, the targets of the riots were very different and deserved very different responses (which one POS woman found out). Private citizens vs leaders of our government carrying out one of the most important tenets of our free country. If you watch the video she is shot in, youll see another insurectionist with an AR15 (i think?) in the near background. Fucking miracle more people didnt get shot. The capital police in the house chambers deserve a damn medal for their actions and restraint.

How many dead people before you agree?

Which turned out to hurt yesterday’s protesters. People also forget that not that long ago there was an occupation by anti Kavanaugh protesters. What did people want to see? Dead Trump supporters?

If you see the video of the shooting, it was bad. Not only was she not an immediate threat but there were cops right behind her who immediately tried to giver her first aid but she had no chance of surviving. As far as her being a POS, you don’t know her. Good people can be manipulated to make bad decisions for a variety of reasons. And being a POS does not mean it’s OK to be murdered.

I prefer to judge what happened rather than play games.

Yes.

For the people saying BLM protesters would have been treated differently by law enforcement, I don’t buy it. First of all, as others have pointed out police around the country have generally showed restraint during periods of intense protests/riots last year.

The biggest contrast that can be drawn was the response to protesters during Trump’s upside down bible walk, and yesterday. However, it seems like even if the police wanted to be more forceful yesterday they were simply overwhelmed with numbers.

The other thing that people remember is Trump’s rhetoric over the summer about how protesters/rioters around the country should have been dealt with. He tweeted many times that BLM protesters should be met with the National Guard and/or active duty military with violence. So why the double standard? Beat down BLM protesters with government troops, but his protesters/rioters are “special”.

It seems that the biggest questions that need to be asked are why this seemed to come as a surprise. Trump encouraged his supporters to riot for weeks and ramped them up to a fever pitch yesterday. He said it’s going to be “wild”. There was apparently plenty of traffic around right wing social media talking about the plans for the riot.

Going forward I hope they investigate as much as possible and arrest everyone they can identify that made their way into the building or committed crimes outside. In a true hold my beer moment, this guy should be easy to catch:

Can you show me one of those?

Plenty of actors, but when the rubber meets the road I can’t think of one.

Those weren’t cops. They were tacticool assholes carrying assault rifles as they stormed congress to prevent a peaceful transfer of power. The cops came after that to render aid.

Good shot. If a mob with guns storms congress and tries to break through baricaded doors to get to government officials, they get shot. Jacob blake got legally shot for walking away with a knife.

That wasn’t the question. If both sides believe character matters that’s the first step towards getting candidates who have it. As it stands, people prefer being on the winning team over being on the better team.

Yep. True.

However, integrity in politics? I can think of like 4 names nationally and like one locally.

Yes the system worked.
There wont be a military junta or strongman taking over for multiple lifetimes, exactly like you and you relatives lived under for most of the time the US has been in existence.

Forget your hypothetical what ifs. Our society is not immune to despots - Wilson, FDR, most presidents really. But we are dependent on the system righting itself.

The cops were right behind her. She was not even close to breaching the barricade. The cop who shot her had no idea who was behind her when he fired his weapon, that’s a no go in LEO and military training. Where are these armed protesters? I have yet to see one. These people came from out of state so they couldn’t legally bring firearms with them anyway. Here is the video:

Youre right, i saw a version that cutout and it looked like one of the police’s longguns was a rioters.

Easy to make that mistake, especially if you are behind a door you can barely see out of with rioters smashing down the glass and wood trying to climb through… and the police inside are charged with protecting congress against the violent aggression of a mob intent on insurection literally banging down the doors. That shooting protected the safety of congress and immediately stopped the threat to their lives and safety.

Do you know if capital police charged with protecting congress from a violent mob have more leeway than normal LEO? Similar to how secret service has more leeway?

I think the cops came up the stairs after the shot was fired, doubt they would be in view as she was above the shooter and they where below and back. You can see the shuffle of feet at the end of the video, very inconclusive though.

From whom? An unarmed woman who was behind a barricade with cops behind her? You need to figure out what threat means with regard to use of lethal force.

It doesn’t work that way. There is only one standard for everyone, including civilians.

You defend rittenhouse because someone tried to grab his illegal gun, while he was doing illegal things. Shooting jacob blake in the back as he is walking away with a knife is a good shooting.

Yet you wont defend a cop backed into a corner on his last stand who fired a single shot to stop a treasonous violent mob intent on violent insurrection from fully breaking through the doors (he tried to barricade) of congress to physically harm our countrys leaders?

Get bent. Fuck this.

Unfortunately they are not embarrassed. My mother-in-law is one of these people and they are just blaming Antifa to deflect blame on their demagogue.

The person grabbing his gun did not know if he were illegally armed or not. Also, it is not illegal to use a weapon you are not legally allowed to possess in self-defense. One of the people he shot was also armed, illegally, as he was a felon.

Armed vs unarmed. A threat to the children in the vehicle he was entering. A convicted criminal who had a warrant and had just fought with the police.

He was walking away? No. He was getting into a vehicle with kids in it.

What? This wasn’t Thermopylae or the Alamo.
