I won’t watch because I like my brain cells to stay with me as long as I can. But I didn’t think anything else was going to happen… This was always going to be demagoguery.
Really? Didn’t the RNC announce that their policy platform was “whatever trump wants”? Haven’t right wing folks (and many moderates frankly) criticized democrat leaders for not speaking out more robustly against this past summers riots and thereby tacitly supporting them? Yet republican leaders are either silent or loudly supportive of trump and his recent actions/words. In the GA runoffs (which turned into a national campaign due to its importance) the GOP candidates fully embraced and leveraged trumps support and parroted his messaging as their strategy.
To say that the GOP doesn’t sanction this is to ignore their actions and words.
The GoP is in a tough spot. Some have denounced Trump and his antics and supporters. Some are supporting Trump like he won the election, and is a popular candidate. Georgia IMO showed how tight a line the GoP needs to walk to win. Some candidates in super red states are benefited by supporting the craziness of Trump, but their actions hurt other candidates in swing states. I think that made a difference in Georgia.
According to a number of posters here, yes. I took it to be shorthand for “spineless”, which I’ve been saying for a while, rather than an actual statement of fact. The RNC themselves never said that as far as I know.
Yes, I criticized the democrat leaders for not speaking out more robustly against the rioting. However, I never once attributed their failure to speak out as a collective and deliberate party strategy to directly support violent rioting.
McCarthy is supportive in the House, but not all members are. McConnell on the other hand is not and has been trying to get his party to coalesce against opposing certification. Thune (2nd in command) is not supportive of the nonsense and has said as much. Romney has called it a disgrace multiple times. Cornyn even voiced opposition. There are a number of leaders voicing opposition to fighting certification as well as some rank and file.
I would expect a party strategy to have unified advocacy, or nearly so. Think of nearly every major partisan action of the past 3 administrations - they all have nearly united leadership… If Pelosi and Schumer were against some course of action along with several others while Hoyer/Clyburn was for said course of action, I don’t think I would call it a Democrat party strategy.
Yes, and they’re idiots. And lost. But they were not party leadership. I expect candidates to say whatever they think will get them the most votes even though I would have told them they’re idiots if I were their campaign manager.
Most GOP senators are going to vote to certify. The vote should be unanimous, but I don’t buy this as an active strategy of the party. I think I’ve been pretty consistent calling GOP leadership out on how they’ve handled Trump before and after the election, but this isn’t that.
Go google and read the RNC 2020 policy platform. Its a single page PDF. I shit you not. It says they support the presidents america first platform. Thats it. The whole fucking GOP and all that it stands for came up with a single fucking page saying our policy is the presidents policy.
I bet you did attribute democrat leaders not speaking out as a sign of them pandering for the far progressive left. Just as the GOP is pandering for the far right. Also, quite a difference between not speaking out harshly enough, vs encouraging rioters to go to congress for “a wild time” or telling white supremecist militias to “stand back and stand by”.
McConnell is finally speaking out. Romney is the black sheep and gets harrassed when ever he steps foot out of Utah (GOP needs more quality folks like him). Cruz, Graham etc all hopped on the trump election fraud bandwagon and are banging that drum. It doesnt have to be unanimous to be a party strategy.
It wasnt just the GA candidates themselves campaigning. It was the DNC and the RNC on their behalf along with plenty of national PACs. The republican candidates, RNC, and gop PAC messaging was all parroting trumpism because that is what they thought would win them the most votes. THAT was their strategy in the second most important election of 2020. Trump was their strategy in the #1 most important election.
Im not attacking you. We are on the same page in the big picture. The side of 'murica. You aren’t the problem. You arent trying to burn down democracy and squeeze liberal tears. We disagree on many policy issues, and that is not the problem. The problem is trump, trumpism, and the people who have fallen under his spell(curse) which unfortunately includes most of the GOP and republican voters. Just look at how many believe the election was rigged/stolen, masks are a political statement, etc.
Explosive device found at Capitol.
Trump coddles the protesters calling them “very special.”
Those guys are white supremacists. Yeah, they sure look like the master race. You also have idiots taking selfies not realizing they are providing evidence against themselves for federal crimes.
The guy on the left didn’t get the no mask memo.
You don’t think trump pardons everyone arrested at this violent riot against free elections? How soon can you pardon someone? Prior to conviction? Prior to charges?
“I know your pain, I know you’re hurt,” he said. “You have to go home now, we have to have peace… we don’t want anybody hurt.”
What exactly is the point of this message from Trump?
They’re poor. Pardons cost money.
They had their “wild time” just like trump promised. Now it’s time to go back to moms basement and upload a trip report to incel.org.
You basing that off their neckbeards, or the fact they thought to wear sweatpants for their big day?
He spent months winding up this particular mechanism, and now, after at least one person has been shot in the violent confrontation he asked for, he says he wants no violence? What is the point of such statements?
So his closet sycophants can defend and continue supporting him without fully stepping out of the closet.
I based it off them not being employed.
Erdogan with some epic trolling. Expecting Putin and Xi to follow suit.
Semantics. Basically what I said lol.
