Tricks to Combat Cravings

Like most people, i get bored and eat or have cravings and indulge in not so great food.

Do you guys have any tips to fight this?

I should just start playing with myself in the corner if i get bored. That would keep me busy for a little while.

An easy and healthy tip to try is increase you fiber intake. Regardless of what you’re eating, fiber prolongs satiety. It’s also healthy.

If you are just so bored that you eat when you aren’t hungry at all then you should find a job or a hobby.

Eating all the time is good, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

I had the same problem snacking a lot. All I did was stop buying snacks and eat every 3-4 hours.

Celery, you damn near lose weight eating it. Also, when you find yourself in the kitchen and you want to snack, just pinch the area of fat you are trying to get rid of, works for cardio motivation too.

Brush your teeth to fight late night snacking urges.

These are great tips, I keep myself busy most of the time (full-time student, work, lifting, basketball, guitar) but I still have some downtime.

Someone told me to chew gum or eat sugar free hard candy.

Eat

listen man if your body is craving something, is because its in depletion of something… just eat every 3 hours, healthily, and have a cheat every now and again man! you gotta give yout body a treat every now and again when you are squatting 150kgs!!!

Glutamine helps.

I am trying to drop a few pounds and cut up a bit for summer. I found it really helpful to just stop buying anything I know I shouldn’t eat. Stock your house with good-for-you foods and it will pay off.

Really?

Have a protein shake. 120 Calories isn’t very much and it’ll fill you a bit. If you’re lifting it can’t really hurt.

Also sometimes dehydration will be felt as hunger or cravings. I notice that quite a bit if I’ve exercised heavily throughout the day without properly hydrating. At night I’ll be craving heavily and after drinking a litre of water I’ll usually be fine.

Diet jelly gets me through sometimes though. It’s like 7 calories of protein per serving. Eating a litre of it (a lot) is like 60 calories!

I make pudding using protein powder + diet jelly. It’s awesome. Make sure the jelly is cooled a bit before adding the protein powder up to the usual amount of liquid and chill.

I used to cheat every other day, a small cheat though like 3 cookies. Then I cut it down to twice per week. Now I allow myself twice per week still but only do it usually once per week. I think from eating every two or three hours, getting 30% of calories from carbs, not eating starchy carbs and allowing a little bit of cheating enables me to go long periods of time without cheat meals. I don’t even crave them anymore.

I was a chocolate and sweets junkie, and glutamine seemed to have helped me ward off that monkey. Could be placebo for all I know.

I recall reading somewhere that smokers had good results with it too.

Pickled Jalapeno work great at curbing hunger, plus you get the added benefit of lot of water intake.

If you want to cut out the sodium from the pickled, eat the raw jalapeno.

5-10 cal and it will kill you hunger for a good 2 hours.

DianaB who wrote here and there as an excellent “article” about it, go read it :

I hope this is a troll job.

If you really are this stupid, eat some fruit or yogurt. You choosing to eat shitty food isn’t your cravings fault. Grow some will power.

I just stopped buying crap. Theres are times where I am like you know I would really love some chips, a cookie, or ice cream. I go to the fridge and am like well it looks like your options are eggs or some fruit. If you have junk in the house, you’ll end up eating it and if you don’t have it the problem is solved.

Another thing that I think works well is activity. The hardest thing for me is at work, because somebody is always bringing in donuts, coffee cake, or some other terrible shit. I don’t really want it, but if its sitting in front of me, I’ll eat it. I’ll practice pistol squats, stretch out, or just start working on something since I’m at work. If I’m at home I’ll just do some pushups or BW squats or get a good stretch in. I just get busy and forget about wanting anything.
