Tricks to Combat Cravings

i went cold turkey on sweets and junk carbs (chips etc), this is the most effective way IMO. I haven’t eaten any of that stuff since i quit (about 6 months) and I don’t want to at all at this point. I don’t buy it and if anyone offers it I say no thanks, no exceptions. I made an identity decision that i’m not a person that eats that stuff because it’s basically poison as far as I’m concerned (I don’t judge others for eating that stuff, it’s just about the effect these foods have on ME)

if you don’t go hardcore like that you’ll just keep eating stuff you shouldn’t

i don’t fight food cravings though, i always eat if i’m feeling some insatiable craving - i just eat something healthy and a moderate portion. but since i stopped eating crap i don’t really get a sense of incredible urgent need to eat something NOW like i used to, I think your body calms down a bit when you’re feeding it better food.

I guess America is suffering from donut depletion. Quick, open a new Krispy Kreme!

But to the OP:

  1. Find some self-control and willpower. How bad do you want this?

  2. Convince yourself that food is just fuel.

  3. Ah, I have no three. Just put down the case of Kit-Kats.

Glutamine really does help. Just a teaspoon approx in water has helped me with sweet cravings etc.

Glutamine helps.

Really?

I was a chocolate and sweets junkie, and glutamine seemed to have helped me ward off that monkey. Could be placebo for all I know.

I recall reading somewhere that smokers had good results with it too.[/quote]

Frank Zane wrote about using powdered glutamine and glycine as sweeteners. I know he talked about it in his book “Mind, Body, Spirit”, but of course, I can’t find my copy right now.

Personally, chewing gum works fine for me.
