Hi, I will be competing in my first sprint distance triathlon this Sunday and I was thinking of chugging 2 scoops of surge with some creatine after each leg. Do you think this would be helpful? I am also looking for any advice from anybody that has ever done a triathlon.
I have done many sprint tri’s. what are the distances of yours. I personally would not recommend surge during the race. Maybe a serving or 1/2 serving 20 mins before the race and a full serving immediately after. I would drink plain water and watered down gatorade or powerade or such. Most sprint tri’s are too short to need surge during the race. You don’t want to be running with that full belly feeling. Trust me. Proper training will do more than any “drink”. Welcome to the sport and good luck. Have fun with it.
I will be doing a 1/2 mile ocean swim (Santa Cruz Ca. = cold water and big surf !) 16 mile mountain bike ride and a 4 mile run. I am just doing it for the challenge. I am a big guy 6’1" 235lb power lifter competing in the clydsdale division.
I trained for a marathon at one time (didn’t actually do it). But I also posed this same question to the writers here and was told to stick to watered-down gatorade during the race and immediately after have a good serving of surge but to also not introduce something new when you race…i.e. train with what you plan on using!
