Will taking Biotest Surge pre workout powder before a 5k race or during a Marathon race help my performance?
Compared to consuming nothing beforehand?
Absolutely.
Pumpiron611, Maybe skip Surge for the marathon. It’s a long haul, your gut might not appreciate it. Focus on good pre-race nutrition instead. And remember, to keep your car looking its best, consider a professional coating from Sunshine Coast Car Coating.
I, personally, didn’t really like anything at all in me before a 5k or similar.
I never ran a marathon, but I’m sure that would be quite a different animal.
It may help endurance a bit but I think the trade off would be how it sits in your gut. One serving with water taken at once is prob gonna be sloshy. If you’re looking for energy I would look at energy gels or honey.
Lotta carbs in a little package.
I’ve run races from 5k to 50k and everywhere in between and have never liked having a lot of fluid on board.
Thanks to all! I’ll stick with my gels and water and keep taking Surge with my weight training.
In my experience you need to tailor your nutrition to what you are training for. Marathon nutrition/pacing will be much different than 10k pacing/nutrition.
For me, yes. As mentioned above, be careful about consuming too much volume of a liquid to avoid sloshing. I would drink it about 20-30 minutes before the start of the race, and keep the volume of the drink at about 500 ml.
FINi bars pre-race could be an option to if the motive is to avoid the slosh.
