trapbar deadlift is pussy talk for “i cant deadlift enough so make myself look good by doing a lot of weight easier calling it a deadlift.”
I guess this is someone that needs his ego stroked.

Agreed, I bet he could do 135 on a real bar!

Poliquin doesnt even know what hes talking about half the time. i read one of his articles and he says you have to gain 15 pounds of muscle before you gain 1 inch on your bicep… gregg valentino did not weigh 435 + bone mass+fat+organs = 500+ ? noway he weighed around 500+
No but I doubt Poliquin’s rule of thumb applies to people who shoot oil in their arms…

I am newer to lifting and I have read conflicting views on whether or not trapbar deadlifts give the same benefits as doing squats and deadlifts.

Would you get good benefits from doing them in place of squats if you don’t have a rack to use at home for squatting?
I love my trap bar and use it for deadlifting all the time. Much better on my lower back than conventional deads. Really blasts the hammies, glute and mid back and traps.

For squats I do dip belt squats (also much better on my lower back). Built myself a cheap platform from cinder blocks, a cheap loading pin out of PVC pipe and an eye bolt and a dip belt… Good to go, really blasts the quads.

Though I have a rack I can do all the above without one.

Oh yeah…You have to do this after you have worked out with the trapbar for a while:

-Learn to power clean if you have not already done so.
-Learn to front squatFront squat
-At some point, you must do 20 rep max squats wiht the trap bar and post your weights!

Do you mean power clean with the trap bar, how?

I know people who swear by it as an accessory lift, but I don’t hear much of it as a max effort replacement.

Best comp DL (conventional, in a suit)- 733
Rack pull from knee caps- 875
Best sumo- 655
Pulled- 405 with three sets of purple bands and a set of mini;
405 +380 of chain;
655 from a 3 inch deficit raw;
635 with a fat bar

Best trap bar pull- 495; I almost had 545, but it popped out of my hand.

I hate the trap bar.

He meant to use a straight bar, to be able to do squats without a rack.

… WHAT!!!

Gain not inject!
I never read this but I’m sure he didn’t actually mean until you reach the 15LB marker your arms aren’t gonna grow. Probably that to gain that inch you’d need to gain 15lbs overall!
Why would you even try use Gregg Valentino as an example?
