I always use natural peanut butter, but I was looking at labels and notice that regular peanut butter had 0 grams of trans fats for 2 tablespoons. I realize its probable more like a .5 to .75 grams per a serving, but how bad can 1 gram of trans fats a day be for you? and just to rant the low carb peanut butter are ridiculous with 0 to 2 grams less then the regular.
Trans fats? Low-carb??
I thought you said natural.
Peanut butter should be ground up peanuts, nothing more, nothing less. No trans fats, and the only carbs will be what is naturally occuring in peanuts.
The bad thing aboout say regular old Jiff as opposed to natural is not really an issue of the fats at all. It is all the corn syrup and such that its loaded with.
Where as natural peanut butter he only ingred. should be peanuts. maybe salt as well but that it.
ok, you use natural p.b. what kind? natural p.b. is the best!
totaly agree with you!
I use smuckers natural peanut butter. When reading labels I was suprised that they labeled no trans fats in regular peanut butter.
i wish i had natural peanut butter but i cant get it in egypt,. i got jiff’s and another famous brand, and they said 0 trans fat, but if you look at the list of ingredients, there’s a partially hydrogenated oil and a fully hydrogenated oil, which i know IS trans fat. so i got confused and just threw it away.
i wonder is it possible to make it at home? i mean in canada they had those places where you can grind it yourself int he store… just a big box of peanuts in a machine, when you press the button it comes out for you as butter. is there a way to do that.
There are no Trans fats in peanut butter.
The peanut butter uses fully hydrogenated oils not partially hydrogenated.

Yes I actually make my own and dont buy it pre made. I call it peanut butter cause that is what it taste like. However I mix equal parts walnut, almond and peanuts and grind them in a food processor. Add a pinch of stevia and you’re all good. Make a huge batch and refridgerate it and you’re good to go.
Hope that helps,
Phill
I’m eating some no-salt Smuckers right now. The taste seems a bit coarse the first few times you try it, because your palate is used to all the sugar, salt, and flavoring in big name brand peanut butters, but once you’ve eaten it two or three times, it tastes great, and the brand butters taste grainy and over-sugared.
Whole Foods’ organic brands, made from Valencia peanuts, are also good but have a different taste, so If you don’t like Smuckers you might try them. Their almond butter is also very good; in texture, color and taste it reminds of pure milk chocolate, only without the sugar.

Phill, what do you make it in?
thanks! i hope to try this soon. maybe just peanuts tho, or cashew too, or are cashews not a good source of aything? dont have stevia at the moment, will get my hands on some in 20 days maybe, so i might try it with honey.

They have a machine that grinds honey roasted peanut butter near my house, so you have the added carbs from the honey and some salt, but its sooooo friggin good, espically on an apple.
You can buy a juicer with an attachment for creating nut butters. The Green Power or Greenstar will do this. Those are about $400 here in the states.
This article says even though they add that partially hydrogenated oil, it usually is .0032g per 100g. Which they say is negligible.
Still, there is all the sugar and salt and other crap they add to the non-natural that it is not worth it.
I use a food processor. Worksgreat just let that puppy grind away and beofr long it’ll be smooth as butta (pun intended)
