Foods like peanut butter, mayo etc have fat in it. The labels on them say,for example,14 g fat,2.5 saturated. Ok,I know 2.5 gram is saturated but what about the 11.5 other grams?
Any invisible bad fats in them? I always assumed that it was monounsaturated and polyunsaturated.
The rest is around 7 grams of monounsaturated fat and 4.5 grams of polyunsaturated. I always recommend eating peanuts because of their high monounsaturated fat content. Pistachios are even better. Eat them up!
most of the fats in peanut butter are good fats. just make sure you get NATURAL peanut butter cuz the normal stuff is basically peanut flavored lard laden with trans fatty acids. nasty stuff. :o( the natural variety will have a thicker consistency and taste somewhat different at first (add a few packets of splenda per jar to sweeten it up a bit!), but you will soon acquire the taste for it and the regular stuff will make you gag. kevo
Hey, Does anyone know where to get Adam’s Natural peanut butter. I can’t find it. I saw it once in Hawaii and brought it home but I’m out and want more! Thanks…J
I think Costco carries Adam’s
What about the rest of the foods? U all talk about peanut butter here only but there are so many other foods with labels that only read saturated and total fat grams. How can one tell if there are transfatty in them or not?
Thanks for the suggestion about the natural peanut butter…I eat the non-natural ones.
Whoops…anyway,I can’t tell if it really has transfatty or not…how can u tell? Are there certain ingredients which I should look out for?
Look for “hydrogenated oil” or “partially-hydrogenated oil”. That’s the bad stuff that many people agree has caused heart disease to reach epidemic proportions in the United States and other industrialized nations.
