Thanks, man! I’ve been creepin’ on your squat and saw that you tripled your previous max. Good shit. Lookin’ thick, too.

It’s getting to that point, too. Ed told me I had a big ass, so I’ll take it. I have the stretch marks to prove it lol.

So many stretch marks on my ass. If it fits around my ass, we’re good to go.
Wednesday, May 23, 2012 - Squats & Deads
Warm Up
- PVC roll everything
- Lots of stretching
Paused Squats
2 X 6 X 135
1 X 5 X 225
1 X 2 X 275
1 X 2 X 315* +10 lb. PR.
1 X 1 X 340* +25 lb. & all-time PR.
NOTES: Everything felt good today. The last set was the easiest, actually. Sat down nice and low, sat there for a second, and stood right up with it. I had at least another 10-15 lbs. in me. My squat form is becoming less and less shitty everyday.
Conventional Deadlifts
1 X 5 X 135
1 X 5 X 225
1 X 3 X 315
1 X 1 X 365
2 X 1 X 405* Volume PR.
NOTES: We used a deadlift bar today, so it was a 50 lb. bar. My form was good through 365. Pulled in a straight line, used my quads, and all that jazz. Then 405 came along. The first rep was “okay” on each set. I was supposed to go for doubles, but I lost it at the bottom and just couldn’t bring it back up. Ed was telling me if I can just get my form down, I could be repping 405 like it’s nothing. I at least got the weight off the floor this week, so I guess it’s an improvement. I’m looking to pull 435 at the meet. We’ll see how it goes.
Dumbbell Rows
4 X 10 X 50 (each arm)
NOTES: These were done real strict. We focused on really pulling with our lat and squeezing at the top. The weight was a bit too light for me, but I got all the reps and got a good contraction out of it, so it did it’s job.
Chest-Supported Rows
3 X 10 X 80
Wide-grip Lat Pulldowns
2 X 15 X 140
ENDING NOTES: Overall, I had a good day, except for the deadlifts again. One of my training partners was telling me that not all 3 lifts are going to be awesome at one time. One is going to suffer a bit while you’re trying to bring up the others. Right now, I think it’s my bench and my deadlift that are suffering due to pushing the squat more, as of late. I’m still looking to put another 20 lbs. on my bench before the meet and hopefully squat 405 when I’m competing. We’ll see how the rest goes. My goal was to pull 455 before the summer ended, but I’m not so sure how that’s going to go. I’m hoping to get at least something over my old PR. If I just keep upping the calories, stretching, and doing the little things, I think I’ll be okay. Got a distance run tomorrow and then shoulders on Friday.

Totally stealing StormTheBeach’s motto: Solum per exitum. “The only way out, is through.” I’m making this the motto for the rest of my life.
Everything I go through is worth it. In the end, it only makes me a better lifter, athlete, future soldier, and a man.

Looks as though I’m officially done with football. As I’ve stated before, it’s the health issue more than anything, along with the fact that I don’t love the sport like I used to. I’ve decided that it’s time to walk away. I’ve had a lot of good times, but this chapter in my life is over. Now it’s time to focus on my powerlifting meet, getting ready for ROTC, and staring judo. Goodbye football, hello martial arts and becoming a Special Forces badass.

Good luck man. When is the meet and what are your goals for it?

The meet is July 28. I’m hoping to go 405/315/425, or just total 1150.

I typed them up, printed it out, and put it in my “motivational corner.” It’s where I take all the shit that people have said about me on Facebook, at school, at lifting, or anywhere else, and put it on my wall(s). It’s what I wake up to everyday and what reminds me to keep going.

So I was supposed to go to the beach today with my friends, but nobody decided to tell me that we were going to leave an hour earlier than originally planned, so as it turns out, I’m not going. I have to hit shoulders today, anyways, so I’ll at least be occupied for a good hour or two.

- Rotator cuff
Strict Overhead Press
2 X 8 X 45
1 X 5 X 95
1 X 3 X 120

How do you like those paused squats big guy?
