Training with Costochondritis

 So I have been having this chronic sternum pain, and sometimes the back of my ribs at my mid traps hurt too, any chest movement hurts it. I CAN overhead press, and press with really tucked elbows.

Has anyone else experienced this pain? Do I have to take time off? or can I just train around it by avoiding movements that exacerbate it?

I agree w/ BBB. Doesn’t sound like typical costochondritis. We would need additional info besides what you gave to give a better answer, but with the limited information, I’d lean more towards a subluxed rib as being the source of your problems.

I was recently diagnosed with costochondritis, had to take about 3 weeks off and lots of ibuprofen. But my symptoms were slightly different than the ones you’re describing, you should see a doc who is very thorough, and do what he/she says. Hope it gets better.
