I am a geared Powerlifter. Last Wednesday, April 22, 2015 I hit my biggest lift ever. 405lbs x 2. I am being coached by Mike Womack on the Bench only. I take video and send to him for critique and feedback; so yes there is video.
Wow! That’s pretty awesome. Are you single or multi-ply?
Mike is having me move and working me up from single to multi-ply. Set the WABDL World Record last November with Single-Ply @ 275.5. Started training with Mike after and we went to 2-ply and now he is moving me into multi. I haven’t gotten my new shirt from him yet. Interesting to see what happens after I break that in. The 405 was set with 2-ply and mini bands. Look out triple (multi) ply.

The biggest PR is the control I have learned.

Control in a shirt is everything. I compete unequipped and single ply. Having control when it feels like your head is going to burst from pressure is a must have

Yes your head does feel like it is going to burst. LOL Learning how to not come down too fast so that you can load the Lats for that initial explosion is key to getting that lockout. Yet you don’t want to come down to slow or you use all your energy up. It’s a fine line. If you have the control locked in than you don’t have to rest on the chest too long before the official gives the PRESS command.

Last summer I didn’t have enough control and had to hold it at the chest until the official thought I had control. I missed two lifts because of it. Made the state record with 225 and then a month later upped it in a different competition with 231. Really focused on control and then my opening lift nailed that 275.5, with no resting on the chest. LOL.

350@198 Hit 365 a couple of days later. Also hit 315x3 close grip and 315x5 normal grip.

Some meet PRs from last week. Fell a bit short of my overall goals and of training PRs, but I’m still satisfied with my performance.

Brittany Buckner absolutely amazing squat day. Unwrapped, Wrapped and Reverse Band PRs.

200 for 1 unwrapped squat 5lbs PR.
245 for 1 wrapped squat 15lbs PR.
305 for 2 (amazing grind) with lightish reverse orange band about 60 or so pounds out of the bottom deload fully at top.

140 bw this morning.

675lb deadlift. Finally got 7 plates each side. Pretty happy about it.

nice guys!

This is the closest thing to muscular failure I have ever been to. I literally almost blacked out on the last rep and am not 100% sure how I stopped my self. 350 for 20 35lbs PR.

Just hit a 660 Squat single

My PR’s from 05/13/15 @ 165 BW
255# TNG Bench Press PR

315# Squat PR

415 for 15 unwrapped squat @ 202bw. Not the greatest depth but the last 8 and hardest were pretty good.

Hit 335 for a TNG Bench on Thursday and hit 405 for a single on my squat yesterday, feeling good.

Shot a 71 in a 2 man scramble event today on a course I had never played, was pretty fun.

very small pr

475 wrapped squat @169
it was ugly but 3 white lights

My meet from the past weekend. Totaled 1445 at 198lbs for about a 60lb Meet Pr. I messed squats up, took too big of a jump. I’d hit 500 multiple times before but the jump was to big and just didn’t have the strength for it. Should’ve went 485-495. Hit a 15lb Bench PR and a 45lb deadlift Pr. The squat was technically a 2lb Meet PR as my last meet was in kilos haha.

Hit a 685lb Deadlift today

That was a SOLID lift. Congratulations!

Thanks!

Last week I did a 675# squat in IPF gear and a 425 raw bench. Both PR’s.

PRs set this week:

305x1 bench, up 30 pounds from 275 only 2 months ago.
365x1 low bar squat first time using a belt in years and expecting 405x1 very soon.
315x20 sumo deadlift and 425x2, shooting for 450x1 this month.

In the last 3 months I’ve added 30 pounds to my bench, 40 to my squat and about 30 to my deadlift, all with a body weight gain of about 3-5 pounds. I was training for strength for years but finally made the full crossover and am seeing great results.
