does combo’ing the briefs and a squat suit help deads and squats? or would putting them together just be pointless?

It helps a lot on the squat.
As for deadlifting, not sure, my suit was already super tight without the briefs, making getting into position with the bar tough, so I never tried it with the briefs. The general consensus I get from people is “no.”
Make sure to check with your federations rules though. IPF (to my knowledge, correct me if I am wrong someone) does NOT allow both briefs and a suit and still be single ply, while the SPF DOES allow single ply briefs and a single ply suit to be worn together.
4 rep PR
Hit a new PR on incline bench. I got 225x1, and it was really fast. I think I had about 10-15 pounds left in the tank. Gonna shoot for 235-240 next week.

The IPF only allows a suit. No briefs. That being said, if you are going to buy single ply poly there is no suit worth buying other than the super centurion IMO. All the rest are completely incompetent in comparison. Again IMO. But if you look at IPF worlds, something like 98% of people are wearing super centurions. If you do buy a super centurion you can PM me and I will give you some advice if you would like.

I’ll second this as far as the squat goes. Pulling in a super centurian might be a little much though. I pull in an old centurian and that’s hard enough to get to the bar in…
hit a few PR’s today.
foam press- 560 x 1 + 5lb PR
reverse grip bench press- 405 x 7 + 1 rep PR
floor press- legs straight, long pause 425 x 4 + 10lb PR
Why do like the reverse bp and floor press so much? I’ve noticed you seem to have a lot of vids of those two lifts.

Yah you can’t pull in a suit that is as tight as the one you squat in. 1 size larger than a tight squat suit you can pull in. Alternatively, for a beginner, the same size would work fine for both as it shouldn’t be screaming tight. These days a lot of guys pull in the super centurion actually. Many people stand by the old NXG+ fabric though.
Well it was a good day in the world of benching last night for me (finally). Hit a few PR’s
-
295 2 board for a double, and just barely had to be spotted for a third. Prior I had never done 295 on a 2 board for 1, 285 for 1 was my highest.
-
315 3 board for a single. 15 lb PR
-
375 3 board + slingshot = 30 lb PR - missed the groove but managed to power it out
All and all it was a great night for me since my bench has traditionally sucked balls. I realize it wasn’t full ROM yet but it still felt great to hit some good board presses (for me) as well as finally feel what hitting the groove is like. Huge strides made in my technique and I see things really starting to go up from here towards hopefully a respectable bench.
Really nice lifts guys, little men appreciate the inspiration.
Marauder I’m getting “this video is private” notices on everything you embed, I don’t know if that’s just me.
I had an oddball PR in that I pulled 305 with a hook grip for the first time ever. I’m training it. I’m no where near ready to use it in a meet but that’s the first time I went over 300 hooking it.

So, you were hooking at a bar? HAH. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Hook grip is mostly just getting confident with it and used to the effect on your thumbs.

That was actually funny ![]()
I’ve been talking to a couple of guys who’ve started using it in competition. I get a weird lean on my supinated side so I thought I’d try this out.
565 reverse band bench press (first ever attempt)
Got 500 DL yesterday. Hit my goal of 500 before I turn 17 on Dec 28th lol. BW @ 210. No vid sadly. ![]()
Edit: It was also sumo, with no belt.
Hit a 240 incline bench during the week. It was a 15 lb. PR from the last week, where I hit 225 (which was also a PR). So, I got two PRs in one exercise.
CS
Good news for me, I found 2 exercises I really suck at:
parallel bottom up squat- 275 for 5 singles about 65lbs lower than my free squat and 30ish lower than my box squat
close grip bench press to a one board- 225x3, 3-5 reps lower than my cgbp to my chest
