Californias Strongest Man Training week 2 A trip to Fresno
Drove to Fresno this morning to get some training at Athletic Performance to train with OB.
There was a lot of the regulars training which was a nice surprise along with some new faces as well
Started off with Log for max
I already did this last week I was planning on just doing some reps but hey these things happen in strongman.
115xsome
115xsome more
165x3
205x1
255x1
275x awwwwwww how you elude me!
205x10 Haven’t done high reps in forever previous pr was 200x8 so pr +5lbs and +2reps
always good to use different logs, etc they can feel very different
I could have went a bit faster it felt real good and my conditioning seems to have improved. All about transitions transitions transitions
did a few beltless yoke walks with 500lb yoke I think 5 it was shaky at first then I ended with a nice 100ft or so run that was pretty quick
Stones
Just did 2 reps with 260 stone no tacky. I didn’t feel like tackying up and got caught up in what everyone else was doing. I should have used tacky and hit some bigger stones
strict press, pull up bonanza and demo of my fav upper back exercise
Man my shoulders and lats were dead from events so lets train upper body? Makes sense to me!
Axle strict press
93x5
123x3
173x3
193x5 bwx5 not bad… They got a little sloppy and not so strict but still strict for me whatever…
Dead hang pull ups
max reps 2 sets
55lb pull ups x3 reps
half rep pull upsx max reps
ring rear delt raises. I really like these for upper back and rear shoulders. I videoed them to give an example of what I do
db side raises alternated with db curls
3x8 reps
Visibly leaner from last week to this bw is still the same…

Awesome work in here as always by the way!:)
No clue. The comp is still 8 weeks away As soon as I know I will for sure post it and keep posting it lol. I am pretty excited about it.
Squatting and being skinny doesn’t mix
I feel like I got skinny in two weeks. Its odd but I think I was in the 6th hole of my power belt when I was on the 4th… Made squatting feel weird. I just feel weird in general

lol thanks…
Yes they are going to have a big focus on the 175lb class and will have a huge show at the Arnold in 2013 and I intend to win it. I’d like to get to about 185-190 and cut water but i keep losing fat and gaining muscle at the moment… Can’t really complain about that Guess I’ll just have to make real good friends with the sauna…
Progress pic from last night, easily leanest I’ve been in years morning bodyweight 198

a couple of lbs - feasable especially if you are still pulling prs like that.
damn that bench. I have bench envy.
My Max anyway bench this time last year was I think 255? I’ve had an awful bench until recently I’ve worked my ass off on it that Slingshot is the BEES KNEES. Now my bench is decent thanks yeah not looking to lose 10lbs lol
Californias Strongest Man Training week 3 Atlas stones!
bla bla bla
Log press
up to 255x1 wasn’t feeling it today I KNOW I am stronger just need to peak for a big press a bit
Farmers walk 60ft
(no belt)
190x3 runs
190x120ft turn at 60ft first 60ft WAS FAST, fastest for sure
Attempts to pull a truck yeah don’t have right setup area, that was a big waste of time
Atlas stones to 48"
230x1 no tacky
tacky
250x2
series of 230,250,280 missed the 315 it was dirty/dusty had no tacky first 3 were fast and easy
280x6 PR+3 reps pretty easy just dirty stones are tacky thieves
Stones really saved the day… Might do sled pulls tomorrow but I bet I wake up feeling like shit
Log press deserves its own day
I came to the conclusion that after working my triceps with heavy cg bench Thursday I am not recovered enough for good log pressing on Saturday, event day. Moving them to my shoulder day Monday just makes sense. It also frees up more time to train the other events on the weekend I need to be outside for and need daylight.
Of course since I did press Saturday I didn’t go crazy today
Log Press
95x5
145x5
185x5
215x5
235x5
Also doing shorter rest peroids on all my acc lifts it sucked bad… about 60-90seconds between sets
Strict axle press
173x5
173x5
173x5
Pull ups
3x8 dead hang
lateral raises
3x12
Reverse ring flies
3x8
Hammer curls
3x8
10 minutes low intensity steady state cardio on airdyne… so much fun
Oh all my damn joints hurt eat dinner, ice everything, take a epsom salt bath. deadlift tomorrow…
