Found out this morning Bill fucking Kazmaeir is going to be the announcer for nationals. He will be watching and doing commentary on my lifts. Well me and another 150+ people but still… Got to bring it!

May sound ridiculous, but watch yourself if you’re driving around here. People drive like epic assholes and are completely unpredictable in this city. Just assume everyone is going to come over into your lane, pull out in front of you, and generally try to mess you up, and navigation will be easier.
Oh yeah, and one of the guys in our gym will be helping y’all with setup, etc. Older dude named Richard. Real nice guy.

I dont feel up for a full write up right now but the one (BIG) positive was the car deadlift. It was extremly heavy. There was 66 Lightweights and 44 of them zeroed it I think. I got 4 reps which was good for 3rd in the 200s and 8th overall. To say I am the best in the country at one particular lift is pretty cool now I just need to be one of the best at every event ![]()
I estimate it was roughly 750-775 in hand

deadlift
squat
to have if i wish to compete in maybe an intermediate event or so at possibly 275+lbs
those car deads were awersome btw

you’d be a HW sometimes there are subclasss of 265 and 300 then SHW.
My advice is to go on www.NAstrongman.com look in completed contests or upcoming contests for something in your area and see what the weights are and work towards that. Also find a group to train with as doing the actual events thats the fastest way to make progress.
Gym lifts only matter so much but for a base i’d say 275/600/500. Roughly
I was not strong at all when I started but actually doing strongman is the best way to get good or prepared for strongman.

Thanks Carlos, yeah just shows what pushing yourself over a long period of time can do. It don’t come easy for us normal people! Still got a lot of work to do…

Hey, I’m in awe of the highland games and strongman in general since it requires a lot of athleticism that I think I’ve permanently lost lol. I’m living vicariously through you man!

haha I am horrible at the athletic part I’d make a much better powerlifter! Neither of us are normal but as far as really genetically gifted or anything like that. I don’t think either of us getting strong was a thing we were born with
