Training for 175lb Arnold Strongman World Championship (2013)

Thanks Greg and MIM

It was crazy, that car deadlift was nuts… it was a super solid frame heavy gauge. 0 Flex in it it so you had that whole weight in your hands.

The Lightweight class is so damn competitive I just get to keep on getting better.

you’ve been consistently improving for every comp so I’m you’ll work your way to the top sooner or later

Damn dude, that comp looked BRUTAL! Nice job kicking ass. Hey, someone’s gotta come in last place, don’t sweat it. If I was there you’d have been second from the back, haha.

Congrats on a squat pr dude. Those seem to be eluding me lately.

Great pics! You are one beefy fellow! Strong.

haha what happens when you move up 2 weight classes in a year! Thanks man yeah Nationals will be different I may even compete at 200 which of course would be much more competitive for me…

Thanks no fun in picking an easy one plus I got to see Brian Shaw Reverse Band deadlift 1005lbs and talk candidly about training/strongman he is MASSIVE in person I meet him in 07 but that was at least 60lbs ago. His legs look like they are off some animal just huge. 6’8 415 and pretty lean. I got video of him and Steffen Solvi Peterson deadlifting I should throw that up  I have a goal of squatting 405x10 lots of hi rep semi wide stance squats for nats i think they have most carryover on car deadlift IMO all legs/hips and upper back to support it.

Thanks! I try This time last year I was 30lbs lighter… Should have came out it was a fun show. How do you people breath living up there anyway?

Thought I would throw up some more pics.

This is my two training partners (closest to me) and our buddy

they all took 5th, 4th and 2nd in the HWS out of 19 people. This is why I always feel small!

My setup on the car deadlift dont try this at home. it works for ME I think I needed my feet a little further forward. I lock my lower back in, round my upper back a bit and just drive all hips and legs forward.

Getting ready to do the press medley

pics are bad ass. the last one is my favorite.

You’re training partners are so damn big! that probably helps you push yourself more in the gym.

Thanks, i like it to its my good side! haha

Yes if I can kinda keep up with the super heavy weights I figure I should do alright in the lights or 200s

they are 6’6 315 and 6’7 390 btw…

you’re ALL good side Kalle and good progress on the meet. Also I like your attitude. You’ll never learn anything if you are the strongest animal in the pack. Pick the hard meets, talk to some bad ass mofos and apply awesomesauce recipe to your training.

your buddies are giants!

Thanks Mainy! As long as you keep improving thats all that matters! No mom and pop run through easy local shows for me. I’ll test myself against the best

Well this one sucked
Axle power clean and strict press

123x3
133x3
153x3
173x5 PR+10

Reverse band deadlift

up to 495 fucking pathetic my right knee is in major pain and leg feels kind of numb. I’ve noticed some slight discomfort lately and I think I had a slight tear/sprain in my right calf either drunk or training over the weekend. Awesome.

To pissed to bother with anything else today

That hussafel stone carry looks awesome! 120feet like it’s nothin, thats what I’m talking about.

Sorry to hear about your knee pain. Get some motrin, ice that baby up and rest it. Hopefully it’s just a little tweak and you’ll be back to smashing weights and being awesome in no time.

Holy shit, I gotta do RBDL’s and see if I can tie your “pathetic” lift, haha.

Strong work bro, and good job on the axle PR
