Training for 175lb Arnold Strongman World Championship (2013)

damn Kalle… that strong man training sounds like so much fun. I love doing events and things. I’m so jelly of your training.

have you done any max rep Clean and Pressing lately? I found an old video of my attempts from that other thread that i’d totally forgot about lol

Good luck on your comp man. I’m sure you’ll run da streetz on the other competitors

KMC. I can’t agree more, thanks man cept that jerk was ugly as piss! my form is off from all the work on the log. I still plan on taking over

Greg. It is. FYI there is going to be a strongman comp in San Diego around August.

haha forgot about that! I’ve done some with an axle 173lbs for around 10 in 90 seconds the clean just sucks hard with the thick bar, Id like to test out 185 again after my string of comps coming up.

Thanks, if Nampa, ID has streets to run I will run them. Wielding a sword, axe or whatever it is I win

whaaat? In SD? Are you going to be competing in it? I’d definitely come down and check it out if a fellow T-Nationer was competing.

I want to see a pic of you chasing some random pedestrians down the street with your victory axe! awesome!

Yup in SD, I will most likely be competing. I didn’t compete enough last year, you get rusty. I think they are trying to find a venue before it is official. I’ll keep you informed, you could always enter too!

If I win a victory axe I may not take another pic without it.

same here

I really enjoyed your story of strength and size transformation. I was always one of the smallest kids too.

And despite all the training, I still am.

Careful I stalk back!

But your all strong and stuff KP Thats what matters. Funny I gravitate to a sport which I am one of the smallest in haha. Strong is strong though

I thought you were going to be gone for the week. Of course I’m happy that you’re not <3

Eating well? Resting up?

I leave Thursday morning. Lots of good food, trying to rest as much as I can but its not my style. Had to do some major reinforcing of my fence. Painting my house and working on my car. All this no training stuff means I got tons of spare time…

You caught me Greg, by “paint the house” and “work on my car” I mean Masturbate obviously.

Ok I leave in the morning, Figured I’d post goals

Event 1 Max log press: goal 260+

Max Car DL: no way to tell, heavy enough to win

Max yoke squat. Pretty much squatting a bar from 44" off the ground I hit 800 and 830 a few months ago from 45" so who knows. 800+ would be cool

max progression farmers carry. I think this is 5 sets of farmers walk starting at 250lbs and going up to around 320 you pick and carry them 15’ advance if you complete. Of course finish all

300lb atlas stone for max height starting at 48" load the stone  i’d love to get the 2nd height of 52"

good goals

tear shit up…

the house painting- it was a little transparent

Work on my car = “Turning wrenches” and Greg knows what that means, because he calls his weiner a “crescent wrench”. Boom roasted.

Solid goals Kalle, you’ll reach 'em, and surpass them, and continue being awesome.

You can paint my exterior and work on my engine shifts eyebrows up and down

You should’ve gave yourself some challenging goals =D
You can easily get them, can’t wait to hear.

Thanks everyone.

quick recap I won the 200lb class with 4 people in it. there was 11 lightweights (231 and under) so all placings are for the LW overall

log press I went 230,250,270 I almost had, it was out in front and i tried to save it for to long. walking forward to get back under it I ran into the tires set up in front and dropped the thing behind my back. I couldn’t step forward to get out of the way as tires where setup as catches so it came down from lockout on my ankle haha thankfully I am made out of adamantium so I just shook it off. Deal with that later.

250 put me in a 2 way tie for 1st

Yoke squat, I opened at 720lbs. I think heavier then any other lightweight finished, easy. Got 810 easy on my 2nd. went for 850 as thats the most a HW had lifted struggled a bit but got it and went a little nuts haha

1st place

3rd event farmers walk. You had to take 5 farmers implements of different styles 20’ in progression of weight that went 230,250,270,290,310

The 2nd set where these awful suitcase implements, I bitched out and dropped them and was slow, my footwork was just off. i got to the 290s and only had 10 seconds I got them right to the line but the whole thing needed to be across and you only got credit for what you finished. This I think ended up costing me 1st place overall. prolly got 4-5th?

4th event car deadlift

they estimated the weight of the empty car at 420 and had pins to load plates behind the handles

So I opened at 560 EASY 2nd was 610 EASY the heaviest weight lifted was 710 so what the hell lets do 720. Felt tough at the bottom but it rocketed up. Awesome

1st place

5th event 240lb stone loaded over a bar for max height

first attempt 52" easy
2nd 56 little stumble.
58" remember I am 66" tall so this is at my damn head. I fought it and got it over which i think put me in a tie for 3rd. I would have had to press the stone to get it any higher so I did as good as I could.

So happy, I’ve never been more relaxed or confident before. I finally won a comp and to top it off got 2nd overall. I’ll upload some vids and photos this week

Wow wow wow! Kalle I’m so proud of you! Congrats =D

720 on the car deadlift, held it for a few extra seconds and yelled something
