I often wonder if someone would steal my KB out of my backseat. I have SO many things in my car that I doubt it… but still.

Looking good in here. You’re a sexy 195. Yeah, I said it.

Good luck with the comp!

Yeah I doubt anyone would but those things are about 300 bucks now!

Thanks hope I am a sexy 205 too. I need to get my legs bigger then yours thats just unacceptable to me

I’m really fired up about the comp! having trouble sleeping or maybe thats the 500mg of caffeine pre workout

Er but I’m still playing with the shirt =)

Warning please when you miss the first rep. Help my heart condition, I’m already obese :stuck_out_tongue:
Serious, those are some wicked PRs. And if you think that 205 strict press was a grind, you should’ve seen my 100 press. That 205 actually looked easy for you.

Aww babe I hope you win the sword!
With your new press PR, I’m sure the 265 log press will be easy.

Of course you’ll be a hot 205. There hasn’t been a weight that you haven’t stupified me at.

I feel like I owe you. how do I make it up?

Having hard time keeping myself from lifting today. Makes it harder to do when the gym is 10ft away Going to train events tomorrow and I know the rest will do me better than some squats. Being a week out of a comp now. did a ton of yard work so I guess i’ll just fall asleep in the sun till it goes away.

Why would you owe me Babe?

Can’t wait to hear about your day, it’s almost 6 right?
Must’ve got a lot of events done 0:-)

Personalized pics in my log? Yeah I owe you. I’ll think of something

Thanks for the thought YUP lots of events.

I was right. I was thinking of hitting some squats I ate dinner then passed out at about 8:30 woke up at 5:30 ate some eggs then went back to sleep till 8:30 haha so I think I needed the rest!

I weigh myself every morning it has been reading around 193-195 most mornings, I noticed if I leaned forward or back the weight jumped all over the place. I guess the tile is uneven so I moved it to a flat surface and it said I was 198  I gained 4lbs instantly haha

Went to train events at 2:00pm I just wanted to take it easy that I got a comp in a week.

I of course left my belt(s) wrist wraps elbow wraps and everything at my house so good way to start it off!

Started off with log press

felt AWFUL warming up. I just wanted to hit my opener for a single or two 240-245ish

Hit 240x3 real easy! wow the first two just flew up. I pressed the third out in front but still could have got 1 or 2 more. SO 240 will be a good opener  260-270ish will happen

Yoke my worst event…

couple runs of 50’ of

360x2
450x2
540x2

ah it was alright just keep working on it

Farmers walk

190x3 picks
280x50ft!!! YEAH big pr! previous best was 15ft last week haha I had an AWFUL pick as my hips and low back are real worn out but once it was up my grip has just made such big improvements.

Can’t post vids of the farmers though :frowning:

Stones. Trying out a new tacky spider tacky wow this stuff is awesome I barely used any and I had great grip off the ground.

285x1 miss and 1 load picks felt so easy. I should have warmed up on the 220. Problem with training with guys who are 320-350lbs they are strong and stuff. I thought it was lighter till I picked it and could feel how dense it was from a huge lead core haha I had zero pop on my load (have fun with that people) but the week of rest will be good.

Some thoughts and ramblings I was thinking of on my hour ride home from training I forgot to post. Its not hardcore and might be a bit sappy but I don’t give a fuck.

I think I am happiest I’ve ever been with how my life is going. I have been working hard towards personal goals outside the gym and I think everything is going in the right direction. Training wise I feel like I am on the cusp of really reaching the next level. This stuff really means a lot to me. Some would say to unhealthy level but fuck um. I have been small my whole life. short skinny kid, almost always the smallest kid in my class growing up. I always dreamed one day I would grow up to be big and strong even though that seemed unlikely. I would watch stuff like Conan, read Marvel comic books. It put an image in my head.

It has never came easy to me, I benched a lot for a few years when I was about 18. A friend let me borrow Arnolds encyclopedia of Bodybuilding so I bought a squat rack (same one I still have) I think the first time I ever squatted (all 145lbs of me) I did 95lbs for 3x10 and almost tore my groin. I tried the bodybuilding thing but it wasn’t really for me the part of Arnolds book that stuck with me the most was him talking about how some guys where stronger but still not as good at bodybuilding. That kind of thinking just wasn’t me. I wanted strength. Franco Columbu made the biggest impression on me. Well of course he was short so I identified with him but also that he was one of the strongest bodybuilders despite it. Then i found out he competed in Worlds Strongest Man (and was winning till he decided to try to run with a fridge on his back and broke his leg.) This really surprised me because I always loved watching these comps but they where all people 6’2+ and 300+lbs can’t really identify with that.

I also remember in late 06 I saw a thread here on T-Nation by Brad Cardoza. Cardoza was a LW Pro strongman who was about 230lbs lean as all and silly strong. I think the thread was over 10 pages I read all of them and that is how I found there is an amateur strongman association nastrongman.com that had weight classes as low as 200. I think I stayed up till 2 AM trying to find info. I found out there was a annual comp 20 minutes from where I lived. spent even more time trying to find results/weights for the comp that had just passed. I saw the #s which I was much weaker than. Figured if I tried I could be ready to compete at it next year. Emailed the event promoter who said he was not going to do another one. Got the email to a local guy here. Sent him an email went out and trained. Decided to enter the comp he was training for. Hey it landed on my birthday! why not?

I didn’t know wtf I was getting myself into. First off it was a pro/am which means winner turns pro. Pretty much the highest level you could. I zeroed all but 1 event but even in failing It was still better then I had done in training. I knew this would be a long journey and I had too compete against myself too not get discouraged.

OK that was fucking long I just started typing and it kind of went, damn 500mg of caffeine

Reason I am saying this is I have been doing this for a fairly long time. I sometimes feel discouraged as I see people just start out and put up numbers that are just unreal but I keep doing my thing. Lately I have had a lot of people personally and online say that they think its awesome how I have stuck with this or I inspire them in their training. This has really fueled my training. At the same time I don’t think its real, I have a hard time taking compliments. I think people are lying or just being nice.

The other point I (think) I had at the start of this nonsense was I run into people and they go “oh I’m not built to do what you do,” “I wish I could do that” or they think I was born 200lbs. I just decided to work towards something, sometimes harder at it than others. With mixed results and set backs along the way. Will I ever reach what it is I want? No as what I want is be a little better than I was the day before but I still am going to go for it.

Yay for 198!

Ah I remember when you got the 15 feet farmer walks. That went from 15-50 feet back-to-back. Awesome! And I’m glad that you found your log press opener.

That’s a really interesting bio you got there. And it is inspiring that you worked so hard and so long for something.

awesome farmer’s holds PR!!

tackey - keep extra on the outside of your hands to use throughout the reps. eventually your initial dallop will wear off.

and wear tight shorts.leggings. ya know for the spectators

good write up. 'tis the journey. I must remember that this week.

Nikki. yup I’m 3ishlbs heavier than I thought good stuff. I am shocked by the improvments I have made in my grip used to be my worst event Now it is probably yoke walk.

Main. Thanks and you are correct on the tacky little dabs on the back of your hands always at comp. I’ll be wearing the same shorts I got in my avatar I’ll hike them up a little higher if requested

I will not be doing any training till the comp Saturday. I’ll test out the equipment a bit the day before so little hibernation in the log. I’ll spend the downtime getting my backyard all nice and finish painting the interior of my house. My dogs decided to dig a hole in the fence today. Must be tough for them living next to a 1,000 acre state park, little bastards came back exhausted.

I don’t think I will be bringing my computer and tnation is a pain in the ass on my phone so I won’t be able to update. If you want some text updates PM me or its easy enough to find me on facebook

My mom drew this. I thought it was pretty cool.

I “awwed” at your dogs making a hole to visit the park.

Aww I’m going to miss you terribly </3
And your mom’s a pretty good arteest.

198  Big boy.

I love how your clothes don’t fit btw. That must be a sight! Too cute.

Congrats on the PRs! I didn’t realize you had a comp next week. Woo-hoo!

And thanks for the musings. I love learning about my fellow TNers! I think it makes their training all the more interesting. And I love your mom’s warrior woman.

Nikki! Hot!! And i didn’t realize the pic names show when you save them! Hilarious! Good to know.

Well Nikki if you thought that was cute they got out again. Guess I didn’t fix the hole good enough. I really doubt they can now though. Can’t exactly have big dogs like that roaming free they scare people even though they are just big dumb puppies.

My moms the best, I like that she draws a woman with nice capped delts.

Thanks Masch I’m just a growing boy

I didn’t realize I had a comp either. I signed up for it I think Tuesday, its only a 12hr drive… I just hope for some good competition. Some PR’s oh and a nice 1st place sword trophy of course.

.

Thanks for sharing your story…

Never give UP!

Would your doggies come back on there own? The doggie we took in got out a few times and she would come back on her own…she knew where the bacon was  I was impressed…
She loved me, she really loved me!

NEVAH!

Yeah they are good, I just like to be more responsible then to let 220lbs of dog roam free

OH NO worlds collide haha

Training is looking good

jerks and presses looked awesome

I really enjoyed your thoughts

I was 4.8 and 88lbs in my freshmen year in HS tiny.
some dude grabbed me and dragged me to wrestling practice
cause he knew how little I was.

finding power in your body can lead to sucsess in life
and really teaches you how to accomplish shit

I wrote in my log half jokingly
about being short

short people are thought to want to achieve more cause they are small like napolean

really we are made small so we don’t take over.
