I think full body is what I’ve spent most of my life doing, starting with Scooby1961’s teen workout plan when I was 16 and now as a 28 year old, doing Fortitude Training. I do also enjoy just punishing a single body part or two on a traditional Bodybuilding split as seen in a John Meadows program. I think that full body requires a bit more intelligent volume management, whereas on a traditional split, you can just hit yourself with a wrecking ball and should still be recovered by the next time you hit that body part in a week. I think both work great and switching between the two throughout the year keep me physically and mentally fresh.
Coming from you, this might the best compliment I’ve gotten on this site.
To distill my original ramblings for ADD readers,
Monday - Upper body powerlifting
Tuesday - Lower body powerlifting
Wendesday - Off
Thursday- Chest and back bodybuilding
Friday - Leg bodybuilding
Saturday - Arms and shoulders bodybuilding
Sunday - Off
Stretching and cardio could be done as a warmup, a cool down, on an off day, as a second workout - whenever your ADD mind places it, just lump them in wherever it’s convenient.
I’m more of a stimulation addict and couldn’t go that long between movements.
Glad it works for you and thanks for your input.
I’m right there with you regarding the time element. (However I do lift more frequently) Used to practically spend all my free time in the gym- I’m talking about 3+ hours- and wouldn’t think twice. Now, I’m in and out ASAP. Always less than one hour.
I like this, and have seen iterations of it before, with the exception of a shoulder/arm pump day….and the “do something new that is dumb and interests you “ ![]()
I don’t have the discipline or patience for one body part per week. I’ve always wondered where I’d be physique-wise if I had gone that route from the beginning.
Very sincerely appreciated, but you give too much credit. You’re a clearly smart, jacked, disciplined, hard-working dude!
I really like the split. I used to play with one that was similar, but the upper/ lower days were more French contrast/ jumps and throws kind of stuff (because I like it). I think it’s a clever split for those of us that don’t have to be great at anything, but want to be generally strong and jacked.
