Is there a such thing as being too sore? Like I have been extremely sore before from hard psychotic workouts, but I woke up in the middle of the night last night and was in agony at the muscular pain in my lats, traps, and especially rear delts. I am saying I couldn’t even sleep on my back because it was that sore and the muscles that tender, nor could I roll over because it hurt that much, I had to sleep on my stomach. I could literally barely get out of bed and I can’t raise my arm up straight nor can I extend it properly without pain. Hopefully I am making it perfectly clear that I am not just a pussy, I have had plenty of soreness before which was a pain in the ass, but I loved it. But this is just painful! I did 10 sets of 10 5 sec eccentric only chin ups. Is this good or bad that I am this painfully sore?
Dude!! What were you used to doing?? Had you been building up to this volume level, there would be no problem. What you may have done is damaged the tissue excessively, shot your cortisol levels to the freakin moon, and taken a huge step backwards. When you can train again in about 10 days, relax. Train sensibly.
There is such a thing as being too sore. But more importantly, there is such a thing as doing too much in the gym. 100 5 second eccentric chins? Are you serious? The only thing this will do is make you lose strength and size. DON’T EVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!
Well, I have to say that I feel your pain (literally). I just started the gymnast’s back routine, and I have to do all eccentrics because I’m too weak. oh well, gotta start somewhere. But lemme tell you, I woke up incredibly sore today.
