Hey guys, i take psyllium husk caps everyday to keep me regular, if i take to much though can it have the opposite effect, cause ive been taking 2-3grams of psyllium husk a day and had no problems then suddenly with no change of diet or supplementation ive been getting constipated, is it possible am taking to much psyllium husk?
Is this a rubdown?? Seriously i cant take this stuff everyday, I would get fired from my job for shitting in peoples bins because everything looks like a toilet to me on this shit( pun not intended). No way possible that husk can cause constipation, at least in my case.
eh i dunno. I take it too, + Mega acidophilus (which has psyllium in it also) and i normally take 2 of each with every meal. That comes out to about 5g. I believe when first reading about it, According to a university in Maryland, i saw that for some people with IBD, too much psyllium can make symptoms worse, so if thats the case, you can always find a different type of fiber or lessen the amount you take.
It may not be suited for you. I have given up psyllium as it would just block me up even when drinking loads of water. Much prefer flax.
Take 1 tbsp of castor oil.
Don’t make plans for next 12 hours.
Swap in some ground flax seed, mix it into your shakes.
Omega 3 + Fibre = Win
hmmm some good ideas here, ill try backing off the dose and if that doesn’t work ill try a different fiber. thanks guys.

The first 2 weeks I shat out anything and everything… Then for a week or two it didn’t seem to do shit.
Now I pretty much drop off my last meal after I eat my current, and 80% of my shits are clean, no need for wiping.

ive been talking it for 4 months( 4 months with no problems) yeah CB thats the way i was for weeks no need to wipe or anything then BOOM constipated city.

It was brutal. And the first symptom I had was constipation.
I just can’t imagine taking gods gift to your anus (da husks) and not shitting. Just doesn’t make sense if it worked for 4 months.

It’s all a balancing act. If you continued to take same amount of psyllium and not enough water then you could get constipated. I’d increase water and fats and see where that gets you. If it persists > 3days then see a doc.

am gonna try a different fiber for a few days and see what happens.
Ground flax seed works better for me it seems plus it has all the other good stuff to boot. Try some magnesium. That always seems to get things going for me. If you have a few hours that you can be close to a toilet, you could try a teaspoon or two of epsom salt. It works real fast, and its cheap. And then you can use it in a hot bath after a hard workout. Relaxes your muscles.

not really, today will be the day to find out cause yesterday i loaded up on fiber and water so if nothing happens today…am screwed.
