the addition of 7g a day of ispaghula husk on top of previous psyllium husk dose has done the trick guys! thanks for the help.
You can get obstipated if you take too little fluids with the husks, or any fiber for that matter, or you are using diuretics that reduce the water available to the fiber to bind to.

OP,
why have you been taking pysillium husk everyday for so long? i’ve been taking 10 metamucil pills everyday for 4 weeks because I’m on a keto, but when I’m not there’s more than enough fibre in the food I eat and the couple tablespoons of flaxseed I drink down.

I can’t even tell you how much better life is with fiber supplementation than without… I mean at around 400g+ of protein a day, I would imagine most people would benefit from adding some fiber to their shakes… Jesus dude…
Plus flax gives me dirty shit, where as Pysillium gives me miracle shits like 80-90% of the time.

I was about to start a thread about how I thought were a liar in regards to pysillium husk. I normally drop a little benefiber/fiber1 into my protein shakes during the day but I also added in some pysillium husk.
I don’t feel like it made much of a difference. I am still not as regular as I would like to be. Carb days tend to help me go more regularly. Whats the proper dosage? Mine are pills. I have been taking 1-2 a day, which I will say is probably not enough but it is for testing purposes.
Hurry up and tell me already. Oh yea- I am getting close to 400g of protein a day too.
Fair enough… I aim for 250g protein/day. I guess at 400g the amount of fibre you need is a different story :P.
However I do put down a shit load of veggies (no pun intended) with every solid meal and it has helped keep me regular.
Another thing about high protein diets… I find I have to load up on the salt or its get pretty hard to digest. Thank goodness for Frank’s Hot sauce ![]()
I was at my parents house for a weekend and ate a binge of restaurant food, pasta, pizza and stuff i normally cut out and after not going for almost 2 days I took a 15 and 1/4 inch single log shit.
FYI i laid dental floss along it and then measured the floss with a tape measure.

A good amount. I get bulk powder, and use between a table spoon or two a day.
It gives my wife stomach aches. And my aunt needed a higher dose to get things moving.
Shit is amazing dude. The first 7-10 days is a bit intense, but once your system is cleaned out and you find a good dose for yourself, it is magic.
If the pills are the same size as Spike tabs, I would take 4 at least.

I have no idea how big a Spike tab is. I just looked and it is .52g/pill. I brought them with me to work b/c I feel like I am really really backed up.
I normally go like you mentioned- emptying out the previous meal right after shoveling in the new stuff. I may need to go overboard to get things moving?
Good info in this thread. I’ve been taking around 10g of psyllium husk on a diet consisting of 250g protein (all from “food” sources - no protein powders) and about a pound of veggies and a 1/2 pound of grains (whole wheat pasta) a day. And I guess I should have figured this out on my own but that is WAY too much. I have had to wake up in the morning an hour and a half before I plan to leave home and immediately slam 2-3 liters of water to get all of it out… god forbid trying to hold back the floodgates.
Maybe I’ll cut back to 5 =P
I love the Psyllium Husk too. I get mine at Trader Joes or Whole Foods (both sell their house brand for cheap). Two tablespoons = 12 grams which yields 9 grams of fiber. IMO, everybody overestimates the amount of fiber in their diet. It’s recommended that men get 35 grams of fiber a day… and that’s average men, not men who eat like bodybuilders.
I was eating loads of flax meal (I still do) plus raw broccoli or big salads, etc… still, before Psyllium my poops were like toxic sludge. After Psyllium, they are damn near perfect. HIGHLY recommended if you have issues. I take two tablespoons a day, usually with dinner, mixed in a big glass of water. Psyllium Husks for president!
