Off topic? I’m lactose intolerant but I absolutely LOVE milk. I mean it’s like angel piss. Does anyone have experience with pills or drops or anything like that to fight lactose intolerance? I’m back in school so I can’t sit around all day shittin’ like I did way back when. It was worth it by the way. I feel like I have a huge hole in my heart.

I did work on a dairy ranch 25 years ago both organic (although wasn’t really called that back then) and more processed. I’m a scientist and have a lot of friends in medicine, bio, pharma, agriculture and farmers. And quite a few friends who are organic nuts.
I know what I am talking about and you DON’T - you are the one watching too much TV and surfing the net too much and spouting crap about milk.
Anecdotal personal experience is the ONLY thing that matters in the end because everyone reacts differently. If you cannot hack it, don’t go around telling everyone else that it is crap.
The fact that it stuffs some people up is true - for a lot of people milk is bad. For USA maybe more than 50%, worldwide, maybe more than 70%, but in scandinavia, perhaps only 10% - it really depends on your genetic history.
Also there is some bad milk out there, especially in USA.

I agree, although I’ve been guilty of telling other people a supplement is crap because of my personal experiences with it before. I am sick of people on half-assed “question everything” ego trips telling me milk is bad as if they’ve just come off of Mount Sinai with stone tablets in their hands that say so.(when it was really some shitty Peta Pamphlet featuring photos of the most diseased, malnourished farm animals they could find) I’ve been told numerous times that milk isn’t natural. I am of northern European descent, I grew up on a dairy farm and I’ve been drinking whole, unpasteurized milk, fresh from the bulk tank since I can remember. It is PERFECTLY fucking natural for my family and I. And the greatest bulking tool on earth if you can digest it.

Don’t you love how those people only question one side of the argument?
I’ve tried drinking milk, and cutting dairy. Removing it from my diet has no noticeable effect. The only time milk has ever had a bad effect was when I skolled a litre. Acne on my shoulders and back is a constant, but hey - i’m 18.
I don’t think the farms are quite as bad in Australia as in the USA (all we have is space, so all the cattle get to graze outside).
And so I will continue to drink milk, and probably try the raw goat’s milk that is sold and see how that goes.
Spurlock, I’d love some sources or references, you sound like a conspiracy nut.
Any milk is too much fucking milk! the last time I drank milk, I got abducted by fucking alien cows and had milking tubes shoved up my fucking ass and got an enema. So now when you buy chocolate milk, just think of all the people that got abducted and the alien cows. You are drinking their liquidized shit!
I love when i ask for sources he doesn’t respond. I drink half a gallon or so everyday. However i do have a question, my milk is whole “Grade A” pasteurized milk, pasteurized is bad, can someone fill me in real quick?
and as far as being lactose intolerant, you can drink mlik everyday, just enough to not get you horribly bloated, and build tolerance that way, i think there was a thread a while back started on lactose intolerance.
I just wanted to point this out that must seemed to be missing,
Spurlock never said fuck milk he said fuck PASTEURIZED milk.
Sure the guy came off a little nutty but…
RAW Milk is the best thing ever IMO tastes soooooooo good and packs on the pounds. I can’t handle drinking large amounts of pasteurized milk. I was drinking 1/2 a gallon of RAW Milk everyday for awhile there with no stomach discomfort or anything (I drank 1 gallon per day a couple times and still felt fine but didn’t need that many calories so I cut back)
I am glad it is somewhat easy to get in California.

Fuck pasteurized milk.
I can’t believe that it is still illegal in most states to drink or sell raw milk (with Cali being the only true exception…sort of).
Like I said…fuck pasteurized milk.
spurlock, you’ve been reading too many articles from milksucks.com
Also, if you think drinking beer is safer/better than drinking milk, you are an idiot. I drink a gallon of whole milk every day with no negative consequences. I dare you to drink that much beer. Then again maybe you do, it would explain the brain damage.
I have only known two guys, both of them friends of mine, who said that drinking beer is better than drinking milk on the grounds that drinking beer was a lot like drinking bread. They are both about 6’2’’ and around 150 or 160 pounds. They both smoke a pack a day, make a habit of drinking till they puke about twice every month, and take vitamins that they buy at the supermarket. They applaud themselves for having the self control to buy American Spirits over Camels. They rarely eat whole food. In fact, about 6 weeks ago I went from North Carolina to NYC to see a music festival with one of them and, while they’re cool guys, can quickly get on my nerves just for the fact that they don’t eat food more than once or twice a day since they stunt their hunger with beer and nicotine.
Milk is good. Organic Valley Skim Milk is nectar from the gods. Everything at milksucks.com can be proven wrong if you drink Organic Valley Skim Milk or any other organic milk. These cows graze on fields of grass and, at their farms, are few in numbers. Their impact on the environment is nonexistent. Their quality of life is as good as life can be for domestic livestock.
I’ve heard many times that it’s impossible to drink 4 liters of milk within an hour without throwing up.
Although I can’t confirm it to be true, I do believe it.
Iv drank a gallon in an hour. I took a lactaid, and 4 250mg HCL though.
As for to much milk, yeah you can give yourself crazy constipation. Ever shit a calcium turd? It rather hilarious.
What I’m curious about is when people reccomend a “clean” diet and then suggest that same person to drink 2 litres of whole milk/day.
I personally prefer the seefood diet bulking, but it mystifies me that milk, which is full of lactose and saturated fat is considered a “clean” food.
Just because it’s natural doesn’t mean you can’t put on love handles consuming it.
Beer can be good as well, once again, it depends on your genetic makeup. Beer has been the main beverage for THOUSANDS of years of our history in many cultures. But not, for example, in Australia, and the aboriginals there cannot tolerate alcohol generally and should not drink it.
But for a lot of westerners it is a good source of B vitamins etc… and calories.
Does that make it better than milk? Depends on the individual.
Once again all that matters is finding out for yourself.
But I definetely think any young fellows out there wanting to get some more calories should consider milk, see how it goes, and possibly beer, although that might not be the best thing to consume in medieval quantities in this day and age.
Pasteurized milk - depending on the process, determines the quality. I am not a fan of UHT (ultra high temperature) milk. The less heat, the better. Raw milk … not so keen on it after milking an infected cow and getting a bucket of blood. Irrational I know.
Note all dairy products in Oz are pasteurized, only in past few years have they allowed raw milk cheese products from overseas.
4 litres in an hour … I don’t think that would be a problem on an empty stomach. I often drink 2 litres in an hour (or more likely 20 mins) … a litre might have about 30-50 g protein in it and perhaps the same amount of fats.
Note Vince Gironda always recommended milk and keeping things in their natural state, with the natural fats and lactose. If you drink 30g of just protein that protein gets smashed up for energy. Drink 30g protein with 30g fats and carbs and the protein doesn’t need to get broken down. Vince actually recommended adding cream to things - like steak! yum!
But anyway, that is why milk is considereda clean food - in its natural state, everything in it is good for you. If you have not yet learnt that saturated fat is good for you, you need to do some more reading.
Also note that products like whey, if well manufactured, are a lot cheaper for the protein than milk is. For a cheap drink, mix some whey, some milk, some egg, some cream, some berries, mix it up a couple of litres and drink through the day.
I pity anyone lactose intolerant.
Megarrhe,
No, I was not implying that saturated fat is bad for anyone, I actually get in a lot of sat. fat through the day through coconut milk or just beef. I’ve been monitoring my test. levels for a while at a young age and red meat seems to be doing wonders.
I suppose there’s that old prejeudice against saturated lipids in large quantities that led me to saying what I did.
However, your post was informative. Having turned lactose intolerant soon after I started lifting, I have not been able to gauge milk’s effect on one’s physique, although I drank down the stuff like crazy when I was little.
I’m lactose intolerant, just take lactaid.
Spurlock, are you this fired up and pissed off all the time, or just about milk? But thanks regardless, I’m giving up milk tomorrow. I needed a way to cut some calories out, and I’d never enjoy it again, thinking about your rant about PUS, MASTITIS, etc.

something snapped in spurlock and i wouldn’t take his rant too much to heart unless he gives us some cited sources (which he still hasn’t). However i would suggest switching to raw milk which I think even spurlock would support, but it seems like you’re trying to cut calories so i’d say just cut out milk altogether.

yeah we are weird creatures. I always drank milk and did often wonder if I was sufferring the side effects. When I drank MORE milk, a lot more, the “side effects” vanished ie conditions that you would think were related to milk like a sometimes snotty nose.
the morale - if it works, use it. iit don’t, don’t use it. and try to find what works.
also i hate cows eating corn etc… they are meant to eat grass only dammit. not corn, not other cows. and definetely not other ows’ brains.

“too much milk” is very subjective. Your fine with two glasses a day as long as you can deal with milk. Some people drink 3 or 4 times that amount and do fine, for others it gives them bloating cramps ect…If your body is ok then go with it.

And if you get bloating and cramps, try yogurt with live bacterial cultures every day.
