Also in passing there’s a program called fitday, which is what I always use when I’m dieting.
yea from the looks the calipers seem pretty accurate. I know the truth hurts sometimes but you just got to accept it and either dont change anything or you can choose to do something about it. Good luck bro.
Dude, that first pic… Looks like the track I was headed. Recently had a shirtless pic taken unaware at the moment and I have the same issue with my gut. My arms and shoulders however look lean, but Uggg.
Take the above as you will, but I’m commenting to let you know, that in all of our quest to be bigger and better, or downright Just better physically, you are not alone.
Also, if ya start on the Carbolin-19 and Hot Rod, chime in with feedback and keep the photos coming.

I’ve been cutting since Friday, no need to wait til Monday to start.
I will post some pictures as I get in better shape. Hoping to get down to about 15% by summer but we will see.
Its hard to find a training routine to do whilst dieting, anyone have any suggestions?
normally I follow a modified westside or 5/3/1.[/quote]
I’ve been dieting for the last 6 months, down 14 kg, and have been tracking my lean mass/bf% daily. In that time I’ve tried a couple of routines - DC, full body 5x5, and 531. Because of the calorie deficit I haven’t gained muscle, but have lost LBM because of the connective tissue lost while loosing fat. Twice a week seems enough to prevent muscle loss. Muscle gain on a deficit seems futile, so I started running a minimal program. Enough to prevent muscle loss but not too draining and i get in and get out. Something like 3x5 of deads, presses and chins seems to do the trick for me. Or squats, bench, row. Point is dont waste your time in the gym if you’re on a deficit.
Hi guys quick update. I’m about half way through my cut now. I have lost about 3-4inches of my waist and I am approx 18% BF.
Everything has been going pretty good until last week where I took the calories too low and lost some LBM, I have upped the calories a bit now and have added in some extra sled work.
I have been using the WESTSIDE FOR FAT BASTARDS program for the last couple of months and it seems to have helped me keep most of strength.
Next week I am adding in green tea extract and i’m going to really try and get better nights sleeps. I get about 6-7hours a night which I know isn’t enough (damn computer games!). I remember Dan John saying that he got leaner by having 9 hours sleep a night.
Hoping to be lean enough by the end of March so I can get back the LBM I have lost.
The guy in that picture is much higher than 30%. People on T-Nation tend to never estimate or guess anything higher than 25% no matter how fat the bastard is.
I agree - i am around 30% fat (don’t laugh) and I am noticeably thinner than this dude!
That’s a pretty fuckin big difference…

Cheers. I have lost about 20 lbs. Unfortunately lost a bit of muscle which I put down to accidentally using the frozen weight of some foods which means I have been getting less protein than I thought.
I’m hoping to keep the progress going because I still have a few tricks up my sleeve.
Once I get to where I am happy body fat percentage wise, I want to lean bulk no more dirty bulking for me. No idea how to lean bulk so I will have to look into that.
Is it just me or are you purposely extending your stomach in the first photo?
Great Job ! Looks to be sub20 !! Keep up the good training !!!
LOL he was making it look as bad as possible. See the Frank Yang transformation pictures ![]()
Makes for some wild progress pics… whats the harm?

The first picture was a relaxed, but I wasn’t pushing out.
I wish I took more pictures at the start now so I could have a better before and after!
Tomorrow I am going to a new gym to do a strongman session, should be fun hopefully I can play with some stuff I’ve never tried, like the log press, atlas stones and the prowler.
Hoping to post another pic in about 4-6 weeks.
WOW dude. Good work! You went from fat bastard everyone was making fun of to jacked bastard everyone will be taking advice from.
Yeah man solid progress. Keep going
That would be an incentive to hit the cardio and cut the carbs.
