To the Pain

Let’s say you were an avid strength athlete but now have given it up due to a combination of two things; pain and the idea that this pain may have lasting effects. It’s really not the pain that I’m afraid of. It’s the second issue that keeps me off the field. Ankle pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain…all nagging, nothing completely debilitating, but when it hurts to walk down the stairs in the morning, open the can of PB, etc I just threw in the towel.

Am I a pussy (don’t answer this one)? How do you manage pain? When do you really get concerned?

Working through it just doesn’t seem to be getting it done anymore.

what i would say is drink your milk and stop havin a floppy vagina

More concerning than the pain is a) your willingness to ignore/work through it and b) your lack of willingness to learn about what is causing your problems and how to remedy them.

Dude, if you’re having that much pain, there’s probably something wrong with you, internally. You might want to get it checked by a doctor.

I realize that yeah, when I’m doing legs, I’m going to feel pain or when I’m on that last rep of rows, there’s a little pain going on inside…but once you get home and rest for a little, the pain shouldn’t still be around.

Maybe you were overtraining? Throwing in the towel completely isn’t the answer.

If the pain stops you from working out the next training session, not just make it uncomfortable but prevent it, then you should see a doctor. If not, hot-cold showers and other remedies should help it.
