TnT's Forward Momentum!

My kids absolutely would. Probably most kids would. As adults we get lazy, too, but we know enough to know we’re being bums. Kids don’t have that self-awareness yet, so I have to tell them to get moving so they can just be mad at me!

I think I’m probably lazy. Outside of lifting weights, I struggle to find the motivation to get moving. I’d like to blame it on work, but I’ve always been this way. The only reason I don’t have a gaming system is because I know how much time I’d waste.

Meetoo hashtag and what have we not J, I had a gaming computer once and boy did that work overtime

I literally lost 15 minutes of time on the first walk. It was 1.5 miles, a common neighborhood route I walk, and I should’ve taken around 30 minutes. Instead, it took 46. There’s no way that route took me and the two dogs 46 minutes to walk. I have an unexplained 15 minutes missing. I’m logging it here for my sake.

Full body lifting - finally!!

Front squats
15 x 10
45 x 10
95 x 7
115 x 5
135 x 3
150 x 3
165 x 3
180 x 3
195 x 1, 1, 1

Slow n steady so my body can adjust safely to lifting again.

Standing DB OHP
25 x 12
35 x 6
45 x 6, 8, 8

Doggone, I’ve lost a lot of strength at these. No matter, I’ll find it again!

Rows w/ EZ bar, semi-supinated grip
115 x 10
135 x 5
155 x 7, 7, 8

Single leg standing calf raise/ DB curls
25 x 11 / 30 x 12
25 x 11 / 30 x 12
25 x 12 / 30 x 12

It felt freakin’ phenomenal to lift again. I’m starting light, especially with legs and lower back lifts, so my QL won’t despise me and also to let myself safely adjust. Hot dog! I’ve actually missed backyard workouts.

During your time away from work, were you able to get some couch-and-cola time?

That’s interesting! I wouldn’t have guessed you to be a gamer. What were a couple of your favorites?

Right?! As adults, we have to be the meanie to ourselves AND our kids (for those of us who have them) and flatten the laziness curve.

Haha my first thought was that work probably drains you, but you’d already countered that idea :joy: You’ve written about how active you were as a teenager, working a landscaping job, playing sports, and lifting lots, so I dunno if I’d classify you as lazy. I reckon it’s possible to have a lazy disposition that one counters with activities in order to fight being lazy.

Happy Easter and belated happy Passover, y’all! Jesus the Messiah lives!

Dog walk, 1.2 miles, time not kept

I’m pleasantly sore today in my quads and middle traps, and my arms and shoulders are tired. I plan to do three moderate-volume, full body lifting sessions each week, but I might squeeze down to two. Either way, lower volume, compound lifts are what I care about right now. I’m fatter’n I want to be and plan to fix it.

The Matrix is real

First person shooters, Quake and Doom were the first ones, then CS became quite good, Far Cry I liked that too, The first one really had an impact on my computer. I almost bought a new one just for that purpose, an upgrade of the graphics card did it.

I’m not gaming any more, only using a laptop for internet browsing at the moment.

Good to see you logging some workouts again.

Years ago, I read an article that said researchers have learned FPS games increase visual attention to details, visual stimuli processing speed, and intake of visual information. Harvard Medical School was even having some of its med students play video games as part of their training. Crazy, eh? I used to play Halo and the various Mario group games like Mario
Kart, but I haven’t played for years either.

Push Press
15 x 15
55 x 10
85 x 5
105 x 3
125 x 3
140 x 3
155 x 3
45 x 10 (strict, dumbbells, 4-second negative)

EZ bar rows / pushups on handles, feet elevated
115 x 8 / bw x 15
135 x 8 / bw x 15
155 x 8 / bw x 15
155 x 8 / bw x 15
155 x 8 / bw x 15

I’ll probably stay with this row weight til 3x10, then increase it. 75 total pushups; when I reach 100, I’ll wear a weighted backpack and decrease the reps.

EZ curls / rear delt flyes
65 x 3 x 7 / 20 x 3 x 9

I’ve been doing lots of yard work lately and found my lifting recovery is bad. Again. Back to a thrice-weekly, upper/lower split, because my equipment works for the lifts I do and the frequency and volume are recoverable. Keeping the weights light and my expectations manageable.

This bar is for curls! Do I curl in your squat rack??

Looks like a good day. I like the log title!

Trick question! I only have a squat stand.

I discovered the semi-supinated grip when rowing feels great on my shoulders, approximates my grip when lifting real-world objects like bags of concrete or my dog, and allows for a fantastic back stretch and pump!

Thanks! Gotta have a little fun with the pandemic. I might even post a pic of my #CovidCut.

Do it.

I get the same, always trashed doing stuff around the house, I think it’s more of a constant fatigue thing other than shit recovery as your always challenging all muscle groups.

Agreed. And thanks for the perspective, I appreciate it.

Now for the ironic twist:

I was jamming through yard work with one of my brothers, when that lovely little leg injury happened. As far as I can tell, it’s a spider bite. I’m now on two antibiotics and was instructed to return to the ER tomorrow if it’s not any better.

And that is why I’ve not been training or doing yard work. Doggone.

Wtf and I though the spiders down here were bad !!! Hope you get better soon.

Ouch! That’s a nasty spider bite. Ounce for ounce the venom of a black widow is 13 times more deadly than that of a rattlesnake.
Hope it heals up soon!
There’s always silver hydrosol and cactus if the antibiotics don’t fix it.

It developed into this after a week from what first looked like a mosquito bite, but as those Brits famously say, “'tis merely a flesh wound.” And to that I’ll add thank God there are antibiotics to keep it such!

You’re right, black windows don’t mess around. A doctor assured me if it were a black widow bite, id have been in the ER long before.

I’ve never heard of this remedy, but I’ll look into it. Thanks!
