TNA, UFC Reach Deal

Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of build to the Lesnar-Mir fight on upcoming TNA Impact! shows.

Several sites (wrestlingobserver for one), have said that over the next few weeks, TNA will air pieces on Lesnar and Mir, highlighting their training for the fight. They will also show a bunch of commercials for the PPV during the 2-hour Impact! show. Apparently the first package airs next week, and it will highlight Lesnar’s training. Kurt Angle (sigh) will also weigh in with his thoughts on how the fight will go.

Smart move by UFC. Lesnar still has a large wrestling fan base, so it makes sense to try and lure some of those fans into buying the UFC PPV and seeing how Lesnar does.

I actually think this will do one of the better numbers, in terms of PPV buys, because of the curiosity surrounding Lesnar.

If we get to see an F5 pulled off in a MMA match, this will have been worth it.

I don’t know how much I like that…I guess if all you care about is money(Dana White)because you have a tiny dick(Dana White)it’s a good thing. The more hype that surrounds it the more it becomes a freak match. MMA needs less clueless drunk retard fans and more fans that actually give a crap about what’s going on in the ring/cage/octagon. I don’t see pro wrestling fans helping the situation.

Then again money makes the world go round, and if higher PPV buys means better cards(what a thought)I guess I’m in.

I hope Mir snaps his arm off, that would be cool.

More money is the best, fastest way for the sport to grow, and the only way to get more money into the sport is for the fan base to expand. You can’t be a snob about things like this if you want the sport to improve.

Plus, the UFC could have got some other Pro-wrestler for cheap if they wanted WWE fans to watch UFC. Instead they got a guy (Lesnar) who actually has a chance at winning a MMA fight. Whist I don’t like some of the shenanigans that go on in the UFC promotions, I think they did right by the fans in bringing Lesnar in as opposed to some other pro-wrestler.

Many of the early stars of Pancrase and Pride were pro wrestlers, and wrestling and MMA share a large fan base. Arguably, the Ultimate Fighter I does not stick unless it had RAW as a lead-in. Smart scheduling by Spike.
Regardless, the TNA cross-promotion does not mean much. That show has mediocre ratings and their viewers don’t even buy TNA PPVs. Not sure if they’ll buy a UFC PPV.
