Tlaib and Omar Barred from Israel

Israel is the only majority Jewish state on earth. The Palestinian government has in its charter the total destruction of Israel. Support for a Hamas-led Palestine is a de facto anti-Jew position. Unless you can find some way to argue that “wiping Israel off the map” will somehow go down peacefully and with gentle requests.

Notice how I didn’t say anti semitic, because that includes a bunch of people in the region. Not just Jews.

I looked, but couldn’t find the charter. Link to where it talks about the destruction of Israel?

I did find the Palestinian National Covenant, which makes no such mention.

Are we supposed to call folks that want the Saudi regime destroyed “anti Muslim”? I don’t think we should. It’s a state, not a religion. If you want to make that leap go ahead, I guess.

My thoughts: they are flaming antisemites. I believe the original plan was to let them come to Israel and make asses of themselves.

The Israeli papers are saying intelligence sources (which are about as reliable as US sources revealed in newspapers, so take that for its worth) said there was a fair to middling chance that they were going to get killed by Arabs in Gaza and then everyone was going to try to blame it on Israel.

So sorry, we apparently kept these twats alive for you.

I believe you can criticize the Israeli government and not be an antisemite. Israelis criticize their government. Unfortunately, in doing so, you align yourself with antisemites.

It’s funny how white nationalists and a woman from Somalia can find common ground. Then again, there were Arab Nazis and the Protocols, though written in Russia, is treated as non fiction in some Arab nations.

I don’t know if this is true @Jewbacca (and it was kind of “tongue-in-cheek”)…but I read that if someone quoted an “inside source” on a recent Mossad action…it was probably done 7 years ago…(or something like that…!)

Only some?

Oh, and it’s pretty clear the ban was enacted after Trump’s request. Bibi has to humor a vindictive POTUS prone to mood swings.

IN 2016, Reps. MATT CARTWRIGHT (D-Pa.), DAN KILDEE (D-Mich.), MARK POCAN (D-Wis.), LUIS GUTIERREZ (D-Ill.) and HANK JOHNSON (D-Ga.) all went on a five-day trip to Israel and the West Bank sponsored by the group.

– THE TRIP, which was between May 26 and June 1, 2016, was sponsored by the American Global Institute in addition to Miftah.

– AND ON THAT TRIP, the members of Congress listed their destination as “Palestine - Jerusalem - Ramallah” – not Israel.

– THOSE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS stayed in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Ramallah. They met with PLO officials and MIFTAH board members, went to Hebron and met with its mayor, and tried to tour Gaza, but were prevented by the Israeli government.

It’s referred to as a covenant, not charter. My mistake. Excerpts, opinion pieces and full text below. They revised it in 2017 and reaffirmed to their supporters they still want the destruction of Israel.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the PLO is the recognized govt of Palestine, which allowed Hamas to join their govt. The PLO, has a very different covenant with no mention of the destruction of Israel.

So supporting/validating Palestine DOES NOT mean you also support Hamas. I support America, I sure as shit don’t support almost everything our POTUS does and says.

Have those reps voiced support for Hamas? That would be different

That would be like the KKK joining a government in the US. Hence the problem.

@Californiagrown:

Hamas IS the “government” of the Palestinians. Anyone else is just a puppet used for some form of “legitimacy”.

(Believe me…Tlib and Omar know this).

VERY thin…

You think that never happened?

It was the other way around actually. The KKK didn’t join a government or co-opt an existing one. It was the violent enforcement arm of the southern Democrats after the civil war. So in essence it was created by government (or those in power at least).

It was part of the government either way. This doesn’t refute your original point about Hamas. I’m sort of comparing the KKK to Hamas. But these are the compromises we see in politics. The enemy of my enemy and all of that.

It’s my opinion, dude. You can take it or leave it.

There is no country called Palestine, therefore they have no legitimate government. They do have representation in the PLO and they have maniacs constantly shooting missiles in to Israel in Hamas, who do have duly elected positions. But those territories belong to Israel.

That’s a simplistic way of looking at it.

Again…make no mistake, guys…

Hamas ultimately pulls all of the strings on the West Bank and in Gaza…(despite all attempts at “legitimate” governance and “unification”…)

And Hamas’s ultimate Goal is the destruction of Israel.

136 countries tend to disagree. Not supporting the Palestinians, just saying.

The entire West Bank?

No. Fatah are Hamas are in constant conflict.

Let’s spice things up a little…

Omar has come out in support of the LGBTQ community on the West Bank that want’s to have a “Queer Parade”. (THAT should go over well with Fatah and Hamas, @loppar…!)

That brings up a question I have for @Jewbacca

Outside of Tel-Aviv (which I heard could be pretty wild?)…how active and open is the gay community (in general) in Israel?
