can you feel when you start to lose the arch? if so - then just go as low as there and squeeze things tightly to reinforce that held arch position. should work its way down lower over time. i’m still working on mine, too. breaking from the knees is acceptable in Oly lifting - but i know powerlifting is about breaking from the hips.

Milies are looking good Kimba. I don’t think that loss of arch at the bottom is as bad as you think.

The OH squat vid is priceless. Music is perfect. Bear is right. Break from the hips. I know that I probably sound like a nutcase, but I’ve found the wall squats to help with that too. Maybe I just like wall squats a little too much, dunno.

Good for you for actually doing your PT exercises. We prescribe exercises and see patients who are doing concurrent PT. The home-care exercise compliance is dismal. Got to do the homework to get to the fun stuff. That was my mom’s rule anyway.

Nadia, the volume is fatiguing but I only do BBB on upper body, not lower. That makes it do-able for me on a 2 day per week schedule.

Betty, that was a GREAT video! Thank you for helping me with my butt wink. I’m guessing I might have a flexibility issue, considering how piss-poor my wall squat is.

alexus, yes I can feel when I lose my arch so at that point I can rise up again. I’ll play with this. This light 28 lb. bar is making it possible for me to train OH squats for the first time and I’m excited abut them!

Joe, I am quite happy that both millies and bench are making some progress. Its really true that you can’t make progress on all your lifts at once, and this is the first time EVER I’ve prioritized the upper body lifts.

Veggie, I was super-compliant with my PT exercises for many, many months…probably close to year. But it is so tiresome to do them FOREVER. I do hate BSSs with a burning passion, mainly because my balance sucks. It was pretty darn funny to see me hanging onto the heavy bag in order to make simple BW BSSs happen!

Today I sat in a seminar all of this lovely day. Which actually was made very enjoyable because a handsome and entertaining colleague sat next to me all day, and there is nothing Kimba loves more than to flirt. :wink:

I did, however, race home and change and head out to do C25K, Week 1, Workout 2. My knee (so far) has let me have a lovely 20 min. walk/run without being too much of a little bitch. I’m taking what I can get on this one.

I didn’t see much buttwink in your OHS, tbh - in fact, they actually looked pretty good! At any rate, OHSs are great for mobility, so keep at em’ - the carryover to your other lifting will pay in dividends i’m sure. And yes, the soundtrack was AWESOME! and your ass is indeed mesmerizing. Now I’m jealous of your tandem. Perfect day. We have some great bike trails here, but my hubbie doesn’t want to go unless he’s off the road and going down some crazy hills. :frowning: I swear he sees a rattlesnake nearly every time he goes out. I’d rather be seeing a cheeseburger on my trips!

Nice OH squat practice. I see a triceps dent and some nice shoulders. Sweet. I’ve been working on them too.

About running, too much too soon will get ya. Patience. The only time I’ve injured myself was when I drastically increase my distance, like going from running 5 miles to say 9. The endorphins can really trick you, because it tends to feel fantastic at the time. Then later, not so good.

Maschy, I think we are trying to trick our knee/shoulder into behaving by sneaking up on them when they aren’t looking. Directly forcing these recalcitrant body parts to bend to our wills clearly hasn’t worked.

BTW, I had forgotten I’d audio-swapped that video to save you’all’s ears from some inane brotard gym conversation. I had no idea there were so many Verdi fans on this board. :wink:

PP, if your hubby isn’t into cafe-bike-riding, that is too sad. It took many years for my guy to come around to seeing a bike ride as an opportunity for something more than exercise. Perhaps yours will too. Indeed, I’m aware that too much, too soon is a running problem. What took me so long/is taking me so long to wrap my head around is exactly HOW FREAKING SLOW I need to go on this one.

Today is a rest day. Just sitting on my ass. Oh, and its boob-squish day a/k/a mammo-time.

Glad the knee is holding up. And do something nice for yourself after the mammo–I think that’s a rule.

I am fundamentally opposed (pun intended) to having to pay some guy to stick his finger up my rectum so he tell me whether or not I have a condition for which the treatment has been proved to be ineffective and reduces your quality of life. I’ll just die not knowing, thanks.
