Tiny Freak

Sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope things are ok.

Nice benching. Because my BW is up and probably pretty close to 125 these days, I’d say we are about equal distance from a bw bench. Also, with BBB bench and Press watch your elbows with the extra volume. I only do BBB every other week for that reason. I can’t have you breaking anymore.

Wow, that’s a good bit of volume, I like.

And I know that I can’t resist your charms, so I’m sure the doc’s office won’t be able to either.

Get better my little Ray of Sunshine <3

Its true! No one can resist your charms. I hope you got the dr.'s apt!

Sorry to hear about the MIL - hope she gets better soon.

Great benching - seems to be coming along quite nicely!

My charms, such as they are, are apparently quite resistible as applied to employees of the Health Care Establishment. Ergo, I get to wait until next Tuesday to find out the results of my MRI.

Fate, however, is laughing at me. While my knee is feeling improved, its hard for me to register this when my heels (the right one especially) are painful. A little advil, and a true wish to ignore this problem, is currently working out OK.

The good news, since I’m all about the good news, is that none of these whiny niggles seems to hurt me much on the spin bike. So at the very least when the weather improves, I’ll be able to ride. However, I watch the runners go by with much sadness. Ah well.

Today I trained some easy volume. I washed the sand out of my vag and didn’t think about the above crap at all.

Bench Press (with the light oly bar)
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 5
85# 1 x 6 <–this would be a rep PR +1 except for the light oly bar business
65# 1 x 15

It never ceases to amaze me how much difference in my repping ability just a pound or two makes. It seems that the iron game, for a kimba, is a matter of inches.

Easy squats
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 5
85# 1 x 5
75# 1 x 10

Neutral grip pullups
4

Some triceps rope pushdowns

Low Cable rows
70# 1 x 15

Lunges
BW 1 x 15 each leg

Thankfully these did not hurt.

Side Planks
1:30 each side

Plank
1:30 x 1

Today I’m honestly grateful for just having a normal day, with a normal training. Spending time in hospitals looking at sick, old and suffering people always affects me in this way.

I’m the same way with bench, margin of error +/- 10lbs…

Glad to hear the knee is feeling better…

On my ride home last night this song popped on my I-pod. For some unknown reason, you/your log came to mind. Don’t ask my why, or what kinda Freudian/subliminal message is hidden in it.

Hope you feel better from head to toe very soon.

Nice workouts going on.

I totally here you on the sick people, hospital drag. My mom was in the hospital for 21 days - I stayed with her all but 1 of those days, I am still trying to recover from that one & it was 2.5 years ago. My son was in the hospital for 2 days, about 2 weeks ago & I still feel in a funk from it.
Make sure you keep your workouts consistant while this crap is going on, you control that part of your life and the other stuff is just going to have to happen.

My folks are in and out of hospital all the time thanks to their strokes, falls and generally being old and on the way out. I agree, I do not want to be in a hospital, ever. I hope I am reasonably mobile and sane in old age (and now, of course!)

Joe, as always, thanks for keeping me company in my weirdness.

print, watching that video was a most excellent respite from my day. I am passing on identifying any subliminal messages.

n8tive & Cal, I spent all day in the effort to spring my MIL from that hell-hole…I mean hospital. I never, never, NEVER wanna go there. I’m fiercely dedicated to health and fitness, as far as it is in my control, in order to prevent that from happening.

So, file this under “more than one way to skin a cat”. While doing hospital duty today, I marched myself downstairs to medical records and asked them for a copy of my MRI report. Easy as pie, they handed it over and I immediately read it in the elevator.

“Impression: 1. Probable myxoid degenerative changes posterior horn medial meniscus. No definite evidence of meniscal tear or ligamentous injury. 2. Tendinopathy of the quadriceps tendon.”

I am no doctor, but I suspect that by and large this is decent news. In fact, this is what my chiro/ART lady told me was wrong without the benefit of the MRI.

Hey Kimba and Snap - I think you two are going to be excellent support for me. My bench is looking very similar. Ok, that is making me feel pretty great to be in your company. I do have some short arms. Shirt sleeves are always too long unless I go petite. Maybe that explains it. Whoohoo!

Sorry to hear about all the time sitting around in a hospital. Hope the knee report comes out good.

I envy you. At least when it comes to benching.

I’m glad you got your MRI report. And I agree, that sounds pretty non sinister. Very good news. You’ll be as good as new in no time.

Glad that it sounds like there are no unpleasant surprises with the MRI.

That is good news on the knee… hope that you are able to bust the MIL out today! Try your charm again, it should work this time.

That sounds like very good news about the knee and you should be back to do everything you enjoy in a few days if nto sooner.

Great news on the knee! So what does this mean? You just have to lay off it for a bit?

Sending good vibes for you and the MIL. I hear ya. If anything all this weight lifting will keep our bones nice and strong

Thanks for all the good vibes and well wishes. I see my knee doc on Tuesday and will ask him about the best way to rehab the knee situ.

I saw my chiro/ART lady yesterday and she helped me out with my heel pain. That was honestly one of the more painful treatments I’ve ever had, as well as the first time I’ve gotten taped up. But it feels lots better this AM. I asked her not to say the words “plantar fasciitis” so she didn’t. And in fact the plantar tendon is fine. But somehow I managed to inflame some other foot tendons, so I’ll be rehabbing weak extensors and flexors in my feet and the knee business all at once.

She suggested that when dealing with pain and inflammation, its best to avoid dairy, red meat and alcohol. I’m giving this a shot for the next few weeks, and have discovered that almond milk is quite delicious. I miss cheese.

As long as I can lift (which I can – I can do anything that doesn’t hurt either during or the next day) I’m happy enough. I did return the cute running tights because they were depressing me, but purchased these very cute everyday-wear crops instead to make me feel better:

I’ll be running again, make no mistake. But it will probably be shorts season when I do.

keep on truckin’ - as you say “this too shall pass!”

Does your ART help at all with the knee issues?

As long as you don’t skip the shorts season (and pictures of course) I’m good ;D

Almond milk is yummy.
And if the food restrictions work, then it’ll be worth no cheese.

Have you tried rolling your feet on a hard ball? Helps me a lot!
I feel the food pain - I’ve cut out my beloved nuts and dried fruit (until I can shift this extra weight) and it makes me a sad hippo.
Curcurmin is supposedly great for inflammation (as are fish oils, of course).
