Tiny Freak

An MRI is pretty serious, not to mention expensive, stuff. How long have you had the knee problem? Do you think you tore something? Maybe lay off for a few weeks before going the MRI route?

Valium? No one offered me valium when I had my MRI for my shoulder. Not that I would’ve taken it. But it’s the thought that counts.

And regarding the Roman chair, maybe I’m not clear on what, exactly, one is supposed to do in it to achieve said result. Is it the device where one does hyperextensions or the upright one where one lifts his/her knees? Help.

Maschy, I like it when you say “a good banging”!

CBear, even if they offered me a valium I wouldn’t take it. I’m not so good with the drugs. I am very, very attached to my conscious.

Nadia, I was surprised that I got nothing from the doc. Ligament structures were sound, so the doc was positing a torn meniscus, yet I have none of the traditional indications of this. So therein lies the mystery.

Joe, knee sleeves would mess with my fashionista gym wear. However, if they might help, I would suck it up.

Snapper, I rested my knee for 3 weeks after the initial problem and upon running again, the knee felt just as bad as when I originally tweaked it on the treadmill. I’m sick of waiting. As for the expense of the MRI, I pay an enormous amount of money every month for self-employed health insurance so I’m frankly delighted that I’m getting something for my $$.

The roman chair in question is the upright one where you lift your legs. The idea is to cross your legs and lift the entire leg to failure and beyond (according to Nadia who, apparently, knows!).

Today’s training was easy volume day. This is always a fun day, and is really easy on my cranky knee.

Squata
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 10
75# 1 x 10
80# 1 x 10
75# 1 x 10
65# 1 x 10

All low enough, knees not caving, pretty successful.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 5
85# 1 x 4 <–helped on 5, butt off the bench on 4
65# 1 x 15 ← pretty easy volume

Independent handle pull downs
35 + 1 plate 1 x 17

Dips
BW 1 x 20

Planks with reach under
20 each side

I need a video. Seriously.

I’m glad to read ligament structures are sound. That’s very good news.

Snapper: I don’t do HLRs on a roman chair; I do them from the bar. And, to clarify, I have never cum while doing HLRs or from doing HLRs. But, I have had the experience of having to drop from the bar on to the floor in a crotch grabbing oh my god kind of way. Now, perhaps in a public gym I could have avoided such dramatics, but I’m not so sure.

Regardless, it really wasn’t an enjoyable experience, perhaps because I left myself hanging, ironically, by dropping from the bar too soon. I don’t know. I do know that I have not since done HLRs to near failure. Perhaps your experience will be different.

I’ll be waiting for your report back.

I really like how this discussion is going.

Additional training today: XC skate-skiing for about 30 minutes. Thankfully, this is an enjoyable form of cardio that doesn’t twang my knee.

HLR - are a staple for me - feet to face, I must be doing them wrong.

dang

whats going on with the knee?
I am a new convert to ultrasound to fix strange undectable junk

I don’t know ladies, it happened to me on 2 separate occasions, but stifling an orgasm is just wrong. Its like holding in a sneeze x 1million. And I’m a robust sneezer. wink, wink, nudge, nudge

But if you must know Ms. Kimba, my HLR form was terrible at the time - and rather than a straight legged raise it was more of a bent legged raise and my rep scheme was 1xARTQ (as many reps to quiver). Practice makes perfect!

Glad you’re finding some respite in your training! It may be “easy volume” but it looks like a shit ton of work to me. Nice work!

X - just marking my spot Kimbawoman.

depth on squats is always good.

I would pay a trillion dollars to watch Maschy go bonkers in a roman chair. Imagine how many youtube hits that would get?!

Oh no! An MRI? Glad everything turned out okay! Can’t have a sidelined Kimba!!!

oh, you have to cross your legs? i’ve been holding mine straight out in front…
nice to get something from your health insurance, kimba. fingers crossed they say ‘oh, this is what is wrong, and here is the easy fix’.
injuries suck :frowning:

Cal, the way the US managed care health system works is that one has to see one’s primary care doctor for a referral to a specialist. That was what today was about, and my general care physician is always refreshingly candid as to what she does and doesn’t know. Consequently, I have an appointment with my orthopedic doc tomorrow. He and I go way back, starting with a nasty soft-tissue tear in the back of my left knee from a bicycle accident a few years ago which took 30 well-placed stitches, to multiple bouts with IT band syndrome in that self-same knee. He will be DELIGHTED (not) to hear that I’ve taken up with the running.

It’s the same over here in the National Health - you see your GP (General Practitioner - same as an MD) who may or may not then refer you to a specialist. I once got referred to an NHS physio for back pain. It wasn’t great - these physios tend to be the sort who rehab stroke and car crash patients rather than sports specialists.

Treatment is free but the referrals often take a long time to come about, and often a GP would rather fob you off with the old “rest and painkillers” nonsense.

So instead I usually go to my ART, Nicole, or a sports physio. Both of which I have to pay for, but it gets to the root of the problem a lot quicker.

Anyway, glad you found something you can do without pain. I’m currently battling a funny knee (it’s behind the knee, not the kneecap, so probably a hamstring tendon or something) and elbow problems. This on top of the usual sciatica and rotator cuff issues. Grrr.

Well thats going to keep me up tonight…

God, I love this log.

Okay. So hang from a bar. Cross my legs. And lift them up to my head? Sounds like a very convoluted way to achieve an orgasm. But I’m overanalyzing as usual.

I’m meeting Arachne at the gym in an hour. I’ll have her give it a try first.

Are there any squat-to-orgasm methods? That might suit me better.

How are ya, Kimba?
