Tiny Freak

I’m pulling up a chair for the Freakshow in 2011. Guaranteed to be sassy, full of humour, too darn pretty for words and loaded with success.

Maschy, I had a delicious gyro yesterday. Along with a Bailey’s on the rocks, a bit of beer, and a slice of pizza (but not all at once). A junk food extravaganza to end the year! I am done eating white flour for awhile.

Betty, thanks for the well wishes and I wish the same for you in 2011!

Nadia, thanks for your encouragement on the running! I’m still amazed that I’m even able to run at all after a lifetimes of thinking it wasn’t for me.

giterdone, I appreciate your interest and attendance at the 2011 Freakshow. I’ll do my best to entertain.

I am going to do my best to make today a rest day. It will be hard because the weather is so beautiful, but after yesterday’s run and walking for hours all over First Night celebrations, I need a break.

even freaks need a break

enjoy, we’ll just sit tight and wait for the awsomness.

So, Maschy inspired me to the New Year’s Chinup Challenge.

I wanted 10 but got 7, so Maschy wins! My excuse is that eating junk food and drinking some the night before a chinup challenge is probably not a good strategy.

Now I really am taking a rest day. I’m serious this time…

Nice chinning and running! (And abs…)

HAHAHAHA!! LOVE IT!!!

There are so many things I want to say, particularly regarding how gorgeous you are (!!). But also regarding your impeccable chin-up form!

Seriously, if you did em like I did, ahem with a little momentum and some cough minor kipping, you would’ve gotten 10 easy. But I know you Ms. Kimba, never one to skimp on proper form.

You rock! 7 chinups never looked so good!

ps. Take your break already, you tiny freak!

you cutie you! Chins - up form was fantastic…you had at least another in ya.

Happy New Year!

OK, I giggled. Not because there was anything funny. It was more of an involuntary, euphoric response. I think it was the hair but I could be wrong. Imma watch it again to make sure.

Oh, and nice chins.

Nice! and great chin-ups too…

Have a great New Year!

Ahh, being strong never felt so good. Great job on the chins!

I, too, was inspired by Maschy’s video yesterday and headed off to the gym with a chinup goal in mind this morning. My efforts are chronicled via video in my log.

Happy 2011. Always enjoy this thread – and you. But you know that.

Damn you women and your gyros!

Awesome video, gorgeous!
And you have some stregnth there, doing them from a dead hang each time. Phew!

Happy new year Beautiful!

Kimba–you are such a little hottie. Nice chins.

The chin up challenge was a great idea. Great work, form was spot on.

Impeccable form, impeccable wears, impeccable backside.

Does that bar stay there all the time? If so, stop a few times a day/night & do 3. Don’t do anymore than that. Run w/it for a couple of weeks & you’ll get the 3 in no time flat.

BTW- Can I just add that I LOVE your hair?! I love that cut. Hope I don’t come across to Tim Gunn like.

I was going to say, but Print beat me to it: damn that hair! I remeber you saying that you invested in that mane and girl it shows.

and nice back and back side and chins!

I want to do chins…and I want to a gyro…

Thanks for the moto(and the food craving, haha!)

Keep kicking butt!!

Hey, waitaminute…I believe I was first to mention the hair. Remember…the giddy laugh.

truly we are all simpatico on this.

Although, I did watch it again and it wasn’t just the hair that made me a bit dizzy.

Make it work, Print!

Its a comedy show in here today.

Cal, you are leading the way on the running. You’ve talked it up for so long that I finally had to break down. And actually, your chin-up video was first – I well remember the tiny waist in that vid. Lastly, you are FUNNY…“make it work”!

Maschy, gorgeous inspiration you are. I tried to be like you and fight for those last reps, but I wasn’t coming up again, nuh-uh.

lil power, thanks for the kind words! My mental toughness definitely was lacking on that last chin-up.

George, Snap, Nadia, Nikki, Joe, Betty…thanks for the encouragement! I figure that doing chins from a dead hang with a minimum of swinging is just better strength-wise for me. Even if I get a few less.

giterdone, I’m very happy to be your entertainment.

So, the hair thing…Frenchy, you remember correctly that it takes mucho dinero to make my wild mane even remotely acceptable. Glad you guys liked it, but there is a reason I ponytail it to work out – its everywhere. print feel free to Tim Gunn me all you like.

Unfortunately, the chinup bar doesn’t stay in that doorway and it lost its permanent home in the basement due to having to close the laundry room door to keep the howling cat from driving us insane at night. Long story short, I used to train chinups all the time by doing them whenever I walked by the bar, just like print suggests. Now, the barrier to use is having to put the bar in and take it out. Lame.

So today was the last workout of my thirteen waves of 5/3/1 started in 2010.

5/3/1 Wave 13 - Week 3, Bench and Sumo Deadlift Day
BW = 111 lbs.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 5
69# 1 x 5 <–working
78.5# 1 x 3 <–working
87.5# 1 x 2 <–money set, first time at this weight

I was VERY happy with the money set. I’ve never done more than a single at any weight over 85# and my one rep max is 92#. Now I know that I can get 5 reps at 85 lbs., but every incremental pound over that is a real struggle for me.

Sumo Deadlifts
95# 1 x 5
115# 1 x 5
144# 1 x 5 <–working
163.5# 1 x 3 <–working, no video cause I dropped the weights so hard my camera fell over onto the floor.
182.5# 1 x 3 <–first time at this weight but I’ve never repped more than 180.5# x 2 reps, so this is REALLY GOOD!
135# 1 x 10, 1 x 5 <–too tired to keep a perfect back so stopped.

I wish my back were straighter, but its not awful. Especially keeping in mind that I’ve never successfully gotten anything over 185 lbs. off the ground.

DB Bench
30s 3 x 10

supersetted with

Kroc Rows
30# 3 x 15

Single leg deadlifts, Hallowed-style
20s 2 x 10

Facepulls
22.5# 3 x 12

Then home for a lunch of buttermilk pancakes, real maple syrup and turkey bacon. YUM.

I love it when folks celebrate their own wins. Great job!

Just finished deads myself. Damn, I could go for a pan of turkey bacon right about now.
