Know Iām a bit late - but the using the other leg to help balance for one-legged deadlifts idea does sound good. Iāll have to give it a shot. Know what you mean about Christmas being work. I prefer for it to be ājust like any other dayā as much as possible but then people get wind of my being around while they are going away and then I get stuck with a whole bunch of cats to feed and chores like that. On the upside: It will all be over soon.

Honestly, I think my at-home oly bar and weights are lighter than the ones at the gym. Every time I hit MPs at home, I do great. At the gym, I suck. Iām going to try and weigh the bar and see what is up with this.

Extra-wide stance BW box squats with doubled band right under my knees, courtesy of lil power.

to milkcrate with oly bar 1 x 5 ā these were too hard.
I was working on pushing my knees out against the band all the way out of the hole and was very challenged in doing so. It seems Iāve found my weakness.
Today I plan to run off some of the food and alcohol I consumed yesterday.

Today I was hoping to calibrate my new Nike plus at the local high school track, but it had snow on it so I was foiled. Instead I went for my usual 3.31 mile run and did it in 33:32, a 10:06/mile pace and about 20 sec. slower than last week. And honestly, I couldnāt have done it any faster today. Alcohol and rich food donāt make for Kimba PRs.
But it felt great to be out and about, enjoying a bit of cold sunshine.

lil power, those banded box squats are hurting me but in a good way. I will beat this knee cave with all yāallās help, yes I will!
After my run today, I got on the scale. 112.5 lbs. Then I fetched my oly bar and stood on the scale with it. 150. Soā¦that means this bar only weighs 37.5 lbs. instead of 45 lbs. Thus, NO WONDER I canāt do military presses in the gym like I can at home. There is a 7.5 lb. difference there.
Well, at least now I know what the deal is. Time to take some PRs off the books and reset my MP max.
No wonder. Weighing bars is not crazy. I do it all the time in gyms. That sucks.
In my recent wide-stance squat vid, I have [gasp] knee cave. Never have it with my normal squats.
Kimba:
Look how productive you have been! A nice home cooked meal, a run, and a workout. Sucks about your bedroom bar being light. I have to erase my MP prs tooāI donāt think Iām close to doing full range of motion. Oh well. Itās okay. It wasnāt very long ago that I couldnāt even lift the bar up over my head.
Snap, at least I can compensate for the difference now that I know. Gotta love those microplates! Honestly, I donāt wish knee cave upon you cause it bites. But it will help my struggle to see how you attack it.
Nadia, indeed MPs need to come down to top of chest height in order to really count. At least, that is my rule. Weāll ride the back of the MP bus together. At least the company will be good!
The differences in some bars drives me apeshit. I weighed the EZ bars at my gym and you have to take them down stairs to the locker room to do that which made me look like a nut.
Joe, chances are the gym rats already thought were a nut.
I donāt plan on weighing my gymās bars. All my lifts in the gym are hard enough as is.
My favorite Christmas present was my very first pair of running shorts! When it stops snowing, Iāll put them on for a picture.
