Tiny Freak Goes Ninja

Even ninjas have to rest up now an then. Hopefully you kick that little throat tickle before it becomes a real cold!

Poor Edgy isn’t gonna like this, but…

I am just sick enough to feel that rest is appropriate. But not sick enough to destroy my WANTING to train.

I haven’t been really sick with a bad cold for a number of years – since before I started training. However, my memory is that if a cold gets into my lungs, I can be down and out with a hacking cough for a long time. I’m scared to let things go there.

So, another beautiful day wasted with no ride, run or training. I suck my zinc lozenges, use my neti pot and drink lots of tea. My temp is a little elevated (99.8) so something is clearly going on here.

I’m cheering on my immune system, as I sit on my ass with fingers crossed for success.

Puff, as for BF% I find what you’ve written to be utterly reasonable. I carry my fat in my ass (YAY!), and the calipers don’t test there. BF% isn’t my game; the only numbers I track are scale weight. And that is only to spot trends of too little weight/too much weight before things get out of hand.

Sorry you’re not feeling well =(

deloads are good- feel better soon
I always show cold symptoms if I train or work too much

neti pot is my spring bff

awww, hope you get better SOOON!!!

even ninjas need breaks
take care

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: calipers are so wildly unreliable as a test of bodyfat. Plus or minus 7%, which means readings could fluctuate 14%. Calipers are good for trending, as long as the same person does the measuring in a consistent way. I have been tested all over the board with calipers in the past five years. My lowest reading with body impedance has been 19%. I think most women wildly underestimate their BF%. But I agree with Kimba that the scale and how clothing fits is a great barometer.

Bummer on not feeling well! Rest up & get over it soon.

Chicken soup or tea with honey and bourbon.

I’ve been accused before of being all business. I’m sorry I didn’t wish you well, my little friend.

Thanks all for the tea, bourbon and sympathy. I did train today, as at that moment I felt reasonably good. Now, it is clear that (1) I have a cold and (2) breathing is NOT all right.

Strangely, I did OK in the gym today, and I’m not sorry I went. I doubt it would have changed anything about this virus.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 5
85# 1 x 4 <–helped on 5, and I did need it.
65# 1 x 10

Squats
Bar 1 x 5
65# 1 x 10
75# 1 x 10
80# 1 x 10
85# 1 x 10
65# 1 x 10

All deep enough, all good on the knee cave situ.

Abzzzz

No running or bicycling, and a rest day tomorrow. I’m hoping to train as per usual on Friday. We’ll see. I’m not a good patient.

I’ll tuck you in and make you cookies and tea…

rest up woman!!

Betty, I would REALLY like that. The imagining of it helps.

Since I rarely get sick, when I do its always the case that whatever cold medicines that I have in the house are expired. Last night, in desperation at being unable to breathe while lying down, I took some of my husband’s allergy pills. Did. Not. Help. Today I went to the pharmacy and got the stuff that you have to sign for and hand over your license. I’m hoping for a better night’s sleep with that.

Cause a combination of bad sleep and cold meds results in me not making a hell of a lot of sense at work. I’ve been mis-writing the strangest things all day.

Kimba - I sincerely hope you don’t have the crud I have, three weeks and counting. Just now slowly getting better.

Here’s hoping it’s a short one for you!

Damn look at you lifting while under the weather, I approve.

While Bettey is tucking you in I’ll get you a hot water bottle.

Sounds like you need some chicken soup.
I guess taking time of work is not an option?

George, three weeks is a long time to be down with the crud. I hope you are feeling all better very soon. Definitely I’m hoping for a short cold situation here.

Joe, it was pretty light training with lots of rest in between sets. I gratefully accept the offered hot water bottle. Thanks!

Cal, no work-ee no pay-ee. So I’m doing the best that I can. In any event, I have to do SOMETHING to keep my mind off of my lack of breathing ability.

Today is a rest and recuperation day. I’m hoping to be able to be good to train tomorrow, even if the training has to be scaled back somewhat due to illness. Although I’d love to run today and my C25K runs aren’t that difficult or long, I’m thinking this would be a bad plan for my overall goal of not getting sicker.

I hate sick. So annoying and disruptive.

Kimba: You know your body best, but I will generally run with a head cold–not a chest cold. I think it helps to clear things out. Of course, I just run easy.

You might also take your pseudoephedrine and make meth. That could work too. Now get better.

Today should be a eat heavy day.

YAY! Good on you for getting into the gym while under the weather. I’m with the others, as long as its not serious, then it’ll make you better - my reasoning, HGH production and jarring the CNS boasts the immune system. I’m no doctor though, but whatevs!

Also if the meth doesn’t work, do what my grandma would do - smoke crack! Jk. Just inhale steam from a bowl with a towel over your head. If you have mint (fresh, oil, or otherwise) add that in for a little extra sumptin’ sumptin’. Could help clear up some of that nasal congestion.

You’ll be better in no time! Hang in there!
