Time Table For Growth

I’ve been working out for a while now(2 and half years), not really for size, but to have a healthy body. I’ve been also doing lots of cardio and stuff like that. Now, I’ve decided its time to put on some size. I am 19 and about 160. I want to go up to 180, maybe 190 at the most. 20-30 lbs is a lot. What would you say is the time table for that kinda of growth if assuming I do everything right. 2 years? less? more? thanks

Are we talking 20-30lbs of pure muscle or some fat along with it? Even knowing that it’d be hard to say as everyone’s body is different. If we are talking mostly muscle expect a long time (not juiced).

But why stop at 190?

You are 19 that is a plus. How tall are you?

I gained ~16 lbs in about 3 weeks. Eat, man, eat.

Need help, PM me.

I would say with all the variables involved if you are on the quick side six to eight months. On the slower side a year to year and a half.

thanks for the replies…little about me: I just turned 19. I’m around 6’1", 162 lbs. I dont know by BF% but its very low. My Body is very defined due to working out and running track in HS. I can see my 6pack very well so I dont need to lose any fat. Anyways, the 20-30 lbs is mostly muscle that i want to get but some fat won’t hurt. i pretty much know everything i have to do since i’ve been working out before just for a different goal. 30lbs is my goal now. after I achieve that, maybe i will want more. who knows. plus motivation and didication is not a problem since i’ve been doing it for more than 2 years now. thanks.

Rather than worry about time tables, go cook 6 meals and eat three of them.

If you really expect to add twenty to thirty pounds don’t be naive and think you are going to keep a well etched six pack during this time.

You aren’t going to gain twenty pounds of muscle without some fat gain. Doesn’t have to be overboard, but’s it’s going to happen. The level of gain both muscle and fat will rely heavily on your nutrition.

No one ever knows it all even the experts are still learning.

Not necessarily true. He sound like he’s almost a 100% novice as far as strength and size training go. I put on over 25 lbs in my first year and 90% was lean mass. Newbie gains are come easy but after that phase then you see who really wants it.

alright, thanks guys. D, I definitely understand your response, but I am pretty much a novice.

Just hit it and hit it hard. That goes for the gym, the kitchen and your bed.
