Throat/ Neck Presses - Any Experience

Do you any of you have experience with throat presses ? I did 10 X 10 feet raised with 50 kg today . It felt like nothing but then the 60 kg bp felt very hard.
Are they good for building a weak chest ?
I guess I can BP about 142.5 or 315 at a push.

Any chest exercise will build chest. Pick any 2 exercises to have all the variables covered. If that does not improve your situation the problem is elsewhere and there won’t be an exercise you can find and in a few months produce a before and after pictures with noticable difference.

I have no experience but I think they are a serious overcomplication for most people. There are plenty of simple to perform exercises to choose from that work different parts of the chest without having to flare the elbows. I’m not saying it’s a bad exercise or inherently dangerous, I’m just saying “Why?” when there are so many other great exercises to cycle through.

I have a massive chest 54 inches but a lot of it is fat sadly. I am looking to strengthen the area. I am weak off the chest . I know I cannot spot reduce.

The idea with the neck presses is take some stress off my shoulders. I do a lot of spring bending which is hard on the shoulders.

It was recommended to reduce shoulder stress and strengthen the chest . I struggle with endurance hence the 10 X 10.

Have you tried any neutral grip pressing?

And as @hankthetank89 says below. 10x10 is not exactly a strength building set x rep range. I get that you say you have bad endurance but this seems like a programming issue rather than an exercise choice issue.

Your numbers are not that bad.
Most times when people say they have weak muscle group is usually that they just dont like the genetic looks of their muscles and that is something you cant change.

Id say - Pause Bench…

But then -

Is the opposite of building strenght and not being weak off the chest, so im not really sure what exactly is what you want to do.
You want a different look or you want to be a better bencher?

Both lol. I plan on losing a lot of weight for my wedding.

I have not got access to a horizontal bar. I do not like dumbbell BP pressing much. They are too difficult to get in position to press.

A lot of Golden Era bodybuilding dudes like Vince Gironda talk about the “Guillotine Press” as being a really good move to build pecs.

Bill Kazmaier was an awesome bench presser and he did wide grip presses touching up high, medium and low on the his chest.

I call that “proof.”

As long as it doesn’t mess with your shoulders, why not?

I had done the bench press where the bar descends to your neck.I didn’t do it many workouts. I felt it was too dangerous on my shoulder rotator cuff. I believe it opens the shoulder too much and was the beginning of my left shoulder problems.

I liked to lift heavy weights and movement was far from a good path to move anywhere near my normal bench press weights. I felt it in my pecs, but maybe that was partly because of the increased range of motion.

Due to injury risk, I would never recommend anyone doing it. Too much risk for too little reward.

I know you say they are hard to get in position but I see no reason to not just start a little lighter. When compared to flat benching, DB Presses feel great on the shoulders, especially on a bit of an incline. The novelty of you never doing them could spark new growth too.

Weighted diamond pushups are another option.

Thanks I’ll give it a go .

I can concede that. A lot of these sorts of questions can be answered by “Is it pain free?” and “Does it hit the muscle/muscles you’re targetting?”
