This Thing We Do

ROFL

From now on logs should look like this

Lifted heavy things multiple times

threw up

Repeat…

Amen, Colin.

What a great thread! I have to find a “real” gym!

Colin, That’s my kind of workout! Of course at the Fitness Center we regurgitate.
robmob, keep encouraging him. It will help him in his new modeling career.
Welcome to my world jwilly3. Some serious throwers up in North Carolina. Got a meet at Duke in May. Don’t think they’ll invite the strippers this year though.

Spend most of the day with a contractor seeing what “my” new breakfast nook would cost. I don’t even eat breakfast. Guess I’ll be doing my lifting with only one arm and leg.

Hel, went to college in Boone, so I envied everyone that competed in the Highland Games. Now I am so far down in the swamps we cant find the shot when it sinks!!

I to suspect the strippers will be low profile in Durham. The DA’s office will be just as low!

When is the meet in May? that might be a good weekend trip for me and the family.

Shot
5k x 10stand
6k x 10stand
7.257k x 10stand
6k x 15 full

Discus
1.3k x5 stand
1.5k x10 stand
2.0k x10 stand
1.5k x south africans x 10
1.5k x full x 10

I realize most of you have no idea what this means. It’s my revenge for stuff like:

10 x deconstructed upcycle of the lunar inspired eliptical quasi squat anterior restricted decending left small toe isometric flex.

I’ve got to stay out of the other parts of this site

I know what it means, reminds me of my handwritten logs back in the day. And yeah, I get sick of the new age superanatomical kinesiologically correct workouts. I don’t understand half of it and I took anatomy!

I'm thanking you twice, Hel, for your post in my thread. Any of you who don't read mine, trust me, don't start now, but check out Hel's recent post about the proper mindset about lifting and numbers. It's priceless. Doc

Spent much of my mis-spent youth down in the Louisana swamps. Feel for you.
Right now it’s “tentative” for May 17-18. I’ve got two other meets right around that time so as soon as they make it firm I’ll know for sure if I’ll be in it or not.

Thanks for that hel, it’s a bright sunny 30 degree day up here today.

Whad he say?

Good work hel320!

First Congrats for your Son’s return, I know that is a weight off your mind while he is in OCS. Second congrats for him getting in OCS. Quite an accomplishment on both ends.

He better watch out for the old man…We have to be sneakier as we grow older…or is that wiser?

Thanks jwilly3

Am stuck behind a desk today instead of on the gym floor, so I’m catching up on the gang’s threads and recent posts. hel, where is a reasonably priced place to get a 35lb sphere/handle like you have in the pic? I would like to add one to our growing list of toys. As someone pointed out somwewhere else, I think the side yard will be out-of-bounds for heaving it, but there is an abandoned sand quarry access road right across the street from us and it will do in a pinch.

I wish we had your weather here in NJ…I have been procrastinating with adding cardio, I have promised streamline I would but have been hemming & hawing 'cause it’s still been kinda cold here in NJ. I know all about those light tricks and you’d be amazed at what mirrors do too! The guy I see in the mirror all buff, seems to be someone else according to my wife’s critical eye, LOL!

The one I pictured is a Polnik, very expensive. Here’s a link for the cheapest T&F weights there are: http://www.vsathletics.com/product.php?xProd=470&xSec=81
Select the weight you want to see the price for on the drop down.
Now if you’re just interested in using them for training, here’s a link on how you can make your own scottish throwing weights and just about as heavy as or light as you like. A whole lot cheaper.
http://highland_tools.tripod.com/saacc/id4.html

If you’re interested in getting into throwing /competition remember the T&F weight has to be thrown with both hands, just like the hammer, while in the scottish games you can only use one.

Have fun and hope you can get out of the office soon.

I offended the weather gods the other day by bragging of the beautiful weather we were having. So yesterday they made me pay for my sins. Woke up to 2" of snow. Don’t laugh, this is Alabama. They close the state at 1/2".

So half the carriers didn’t make it to work and those of us who did ended up doing 12 hour shifts. Cleared up by the end of the day so it wasn’t too bad. Last nights work out:
hot bath followed by flamin’ hot chicken wings.

Lots of volume and very strong hel.Nice work! Jimmy

Those Zerkers are crazy! My tendon would come back off if I was trying to Zerker 225…

I think we may have seen the end of the heavy zercher squats. I’m basically toughing them out and I think the strain on the inside of my arms ain’t necessarily a good thing.

Sunday- Breakfast at the Veterans home
Afternoon swimming

Today - Very strange weather. Beautiful, in the 60s again.
Throwing with the High School. Their first meet is next week so I put them through a competition rules training session.
Got me a couple of contenters. Managed to get in a little throwing myself.

BTN Press
135wu, 145x8, 155x6, 175x4, 185x4x2
Power snatch
135wu, 145x6, 155x4, 165x2x2
Standing mil press
135wu, 185x6x3
Front delt discus raises 25# plate ea arm 8x3
Standing cable rear lat pull 40x8x4

Straight bar curls, extreme wide grip
75x10x4
Seated Incline hammer curls
40x8x4

Felt a little tired last night. Had to really force myself to get through the workout. Might have to adjust my supplements. Cup and a half of coffee before workout.

Sounds to me like you need to buy more wine for your wife.

At least, that’s kinda worked for me so far. She always tells me I look great right before she passes out.

EDIT: And today is the 20th anniversary of her being my wife and telling me that right before she passes out.

Ah, newlyweds, what can you do with them?
Congradulations. Every anniversary I look at my wife and wonder at the sanity of someone who has stayed with me this long.
